I’m drawing a blank but was this the last great Non-IP original Universal land standing? Or even built? Also I know it was a shell of its former self but it definitely is still a bit of a shocker to see, this morning.

Some of you may be too young to have experienced Dueling Dragons in its original glory, the Enchanted Oak, or even the live performers of Merlin’s Woods. Shoutout to the scarezones that called this area home as well. Always was one of the best areas of the park in the early years.

Hope we see something grand take its place.

I know Potter saved the resort but neither land will ever be able to beat what they respectively replaced (as good as they are, TBF!).

I’m fascinated that Epic has been a bit of a reversal of the common dynamic of fan vs. GP opinion being opposite (assuming Google Reviews is a good gauge of the GP’s opinion). DU and CP have great reviews, Berk has good reviews and the two big headlining IP lands have mediocre to weak reviews.

Yeah, DU, CP, and Berk feel fresh and immersive. HP is a beautiful land with a not great attraction thus you don’t feel like you’re missing much. SNW is solid but either needed to be bigger or completely different from USH.

I think Zelda and Pokémon will do amazing business because it will feel fresh and be something different.

I understand some here are critical of Battle of The Ministry (and that's perfectly fair), but it generally seems to be highly regarded by the general public and is seen as one of the park's marque attractions.

SNW is solid but either needed to be bigger or completely different from USH.

I don't think this is that big of a deal, since the amount of guests who visit both Universal Hollywood and Orlando is somewhat negligible. Orlando's version also stands apart from actually being "complete", and having more attractions and offerings.

I feel like these lower ratings are largely a result of operational issues, since Battle at The Ministry and Mine-Cart Madness suffer from the worst downtime in the park, and SNW has had some other technical problems at times.

Is there a general consensus on speculation? I know we have no proof of what's to come but do we feel pretty confident this is to become Pokemon or is Zelda still just as plausible? (Edit: I guess technically anything is plausible because it's all rumors but you know what I mean.)

The consensus rumor is Pokemon in Lost Continent and Zelda in Epic.

I was once told (by someone who would know) that there are no plans to bring Pokemon to USF. That was a couple of years ago and things do change, but I still believe that to be fact.

I do find it a bit strange that USF was originally supposed to be the home of all things Nintendo including Zelda in the original proposal, but now the other two parks will be the ones getting Nintendo & Pokemon, leaving USF once again with the short end of the stick. I really do hope they have another mega property planned that can recharge the studios.

Pre-“For Good,” Wicked was rumored for Epic. It’s possible (not actually rumored but wouldn’t surprise me) that the response to For Good — combined with the economy et al — caused Universal to consider limiting its addition some.

I liked For Good, but as I stated in an unfortunately deleted thread of mine, i don’t know how they could have made a good land narratively, what with certain characters supposed to be not around. So maybe this was a right call.

I for one wouldn't mind an Emerald City in place of The Simpsons with a next gen boat style dark ride system taking us through the locales of the Wicked films including Shiz and Elfie's castle.

I would hope for Shrek. Feels like it would fit better.

With how Shrek is featured on banners and the digital LED displays on the outskirts of the resort, I would hope Universal is considering or knows the IP deserves more justice then just a play set and basic area in Dreamworks land. Simpsons's plot isn't big enough for a fully immersive land, but something like an expanded Shrek presence could fit the bill.

To me Wicked if comes to UOR it's Epic or bust if you want to make it as immersive as it can (and should be) to do the IP justice. The Springfield plot just doesn't cut it. If they are other factors holding them back, wait it out to do it right in Epic.
