well the soundstage next to mummy is used for special events... then there is the FLA lottery in one of nicks (they shot family feud in there too) with blue man group in the other... DAVE school has one of them... wrestling has another... how many really are available at any given time really?

I think 2 or 3 (Soundstages 22, 23, & 24) depending on if the USFPG isn't using any for a shoot. So, their might be a reasion why HHN is looking for other places to put houses in so they don't tangle with anything else.

No, I think Universal hit the max at 8. Remember it takes all summer for Universal to build all the houses. If anymore, Universal would be starting to build houses around next month an in Apirl or June.

I think 8 is the magic number. Even with 8 you don't nail it with every single house. There is always one dud house. Granted I think dud houses would happen no matter the number. Just more room to have faults with more haunts.

I liked 7 houses the best, since every year they started to do 8 houses they seem to get shorter and shorter. With 7 houses you got to see everything and the soundstage houses were extra long, unlike this year where the soundstage houses felt like the shortest yet. If you look at the layouts of past houses- 2006 down, they look completly different than they do know since these days they use alot less space. All I want to see is a super long detailed house with 15 show scenes and crazy detail!

Actually it's not that the soundstage's houses got shorter, but Universal crams two houses into one big soundstage making them shorter (via...Soundstage 24 A & B).

That's not exactly a 8 house trend. It's been used prior to 8 houses. They crammed 2 houses into 1 SS in 2006 also. In the past they've crammed 2 houses into venues you wouldn't expect it. I.E. Earthquake/Disaster que (Dark Torment and Classic Monster Mania in 2000). It's a not a new trend to use a location to it's max potential.

I want a return of better themed scare zones. Last year was great for what things called for but I don't want a montage of props. I want another Harvest of the Souls or Skoolhouse.

They started doing that awhile ago in SS 22 then in 2003 they crammed All Nite DIE IN and Screamhouse Revisited into SS 23 and they were both very long houses, I think Screamhouse 2 was almost 500ft long and had like 12 show scenes while All Nite DIE IN was almost just as long.

If we wouldn't lose other scarezones I'd LOVE to have another Deadtropolis sized scarezone in NY. As far as awesome scarezones like you described I endorse. I'd love to get some 2008 status scarezones. Since I've been going (2006) that is the most well rounded year for everything. Scarezones were stellar that year, we had 7 really good houses (you always have a dud but no mediocre houses), good amount of shows. If I was going to find a major gripe for that year it'd be Bill and Ted which incidentally was still better than 2007.

This might bust Universal using the Old Hard Rock Cafe as a haunted house space:

(2/23/11) Over the past several days, many different reports regarding the use and status of the old original Hard Rock Café building at Universal Studios Florida have come in. These included several eye-witness reports of the building itself from over the years, most of which seem to confirm that while the building was never really used as office-space, it does seem like it was used as long-term storage for a period of time as well… though it seems it is no longer used for this purpose either.
You may be wondering why, and the one common thread I’ve been told over and over is that the inside of the building is a disaster area. In fact some believe that the damage to the structure itself (possibly from Hurricane damage over the years) may have been significant enough that Universal may have lost their occupancy permit to use the building for anything at all. This story isn’t completely unheard of, as the long closed Murder She Wrote / Herc & Xena theater next to Shrek 4-D has also been closed for many years for a variety of reasons.
That said, the chances of the site being used for a new Haunt for HHN are slim to none at this point.

Eh, no shocker there really. That building has been vacant for quite some time and Universal has yet to show any interest in it. IIRC, Universal even tried to offer up the building as an implosion sight for a film a while back.

Without a shadow of a doubt, the Murder She Wrote building is USFs best bet to add an 8th haunt to HHN, unless they wanted to use Nazrmans which is always hit or miss.

I think you meant 9th haunt.

Anyway, even if they were to add a house to the MSW building or the old Hard Rock Cafe, they would most likely not have enough time to complete the necessary work before the start of the event. If they were to finally be repaired up to the point that the building inspection code requires, they would have to accomplish all the work, paper work, and reinspections by the start of house construction in the Summer. It seems highly unlikely for them to be used this year.

I'm sure someone who went into Horror Nights Nightmares in '04 could answer this but where would the queue go for the Murder She Wrote building if they placed a haunt there?

There already is a built queue for the building when it was in use before.

When it comes to doing the constructions, permits, inspections etc... from what I understand it is a roof issue. They would just have to replace the roof (outside only) which would take a couple of weeks the most to bring it up to code.

Man if they did it in MSW or Xena it really would be horrifying since the building is condemned lol. But seriously I hear about Nazarman's what is it besides a facade in USF?

An area inside the New York facades big enough to put a full HHN house in. I think they named it Nazarman's because we would usually enter the house right next to the shop's facade.
