That's what I don't get, they should have them in by now. They said they we're getting them nearly 5 months ago.

My guess is that the whole "Commercial Grade Waffle Makers Are On Backorder" nonsense was just good ol' tried and true corporate PR spin that sounded good at the time. It was a solid answer (one that really couldn't be disputed) to a legitimate question and it was a great way to diffuse complaints about the quality (or lack thereof) of the frozen Eggo-style waffles during the opening weeks. Uni probably figured (calculated, more likely) that, as months rolled by, most people would just forget or simply wouldn't care whether the waffles were frozen or fresh.

I hope I'm wrong but I think its clear now that unless folks stop buying these Eggo sandwiches, there is no reason for Uni to make the change (even if they ever really intended to in the first place).

Disappointing.

"Straight up lie"? That's a little harsh. I don't think Chef Jayson was lying to my face (I hear he can be rough on sous chefs but I don't think he's that big a meanie). I figure they really planned on getting fresh waffle makers, but money & logistics made them change plans. Happens all the time in this biz, but it doesn't mean they are "lying."

Will be interesting to hear how Chef Jayson responds if you ever get a chance to ask him about this.

I was obviously joking about him intentionally lying. But I am surprised it wouldn't come to fruition after it was mentioned.

There's no need to do fresh to order waffles, but I'm also not going to cut them slack on mass-toasting Eggos either.

Whenever I'm in FFL, I notice the chicken & waffle sandwiches are pretty popular. Why invest in industrial waffle-makers when the Eggo-style ones are selling like crazy?

Just because something sells well doesnt mean the park shouldn't take strides to make their food taste better. I'm sure a lot of people want to try this sandwhich due to the pure indulgence of it, but will they try it again when they realize they are just eating a giant chicken finger on an Eggo?

Compare it to the fresh waffles made at an extremely popular restaurant in the magic kingdom. And you will see exactly what they are missing.

This is where Uni still has missed the mark a little when competing with Disney. I have eaten many times at both parks and until Simpsons was added I honestly hated eating at Uni. Other than the occasional sit down that is really good, most of the food at Uni is not very good. We sometimes go to Disney just for the food, until Simpson opened we NEVER went to Uni just for the food. Now we went when Simpson's first opened to try the food and while many of the items were way better than before, I still think they have a lot of catching up to do in this area. They need more sit down places, they need more good counter food places, and overall just need to bring up the quality. I can name at least 5 counter places in Disney just off the top of my head (sure there is more if I wasn't sick and my mind wasn't foggy) that blow away all of the counter service places at Uni.

Uni has some REALLY bad counter service. But I do think that Springfield, The Three Broomsticks, Thunder Falls, and Cafe LaBamba (when it's open) have some really good choices. I also like the choices at the new Kabob stand. And Burger Digs isn't awful.

But, I avoid like the plague, Circus McGurkus and Comic Strip Cafe.

Why do you avoid Comic Strip? I am curious.

In Uni's defense they do have Mythos, which is awesome. I also like the Irish place (Finnigans?) ..of course these are both sit down places.

OK I will admit I forgot about Three Broomsticks. I do enjoy that place. My husband loves Thunder Falls, but I tend to not get BBQ out only because we cook BBQ at home and it tastes way better than anything we get out. Now my husband loves BBQ so much he can eat it all the time

And to someone else who mentioned Mythos, yes it is a great place and I love going there, but a park can't survive on one amazing place. Uni needs to have more places like Three Broomsticks and Simpson's area to really start competing with the food Disney offers. I mean when I go to Uni there is like one maybe two places in each park I will even go into. When I am at MK I have a heard time deciding between all the good counter places and when I am Epcot I have a heard time deciding between all the sit down places I would want to go to. I want to have selections of good places, not just one or two places I will dare to go to.

As someone who has eaten at every single restaurant at UOR multiple times (for professional research, of course) I can categorically state that Comic Strip Cafe serves the wost food in any Central Florida park. The "Chinese" dishes are so terrible they make Panda Express look like Lam's Garden. And I'm pretty sure there was no actual fish inside my fish & chips...

On the other hand, MK's Sleepy Hollow waffle sandwiches are terribly overrated. Yes, the waffle itself is fresh and tasty, but too thin to properly hold the fillings, which are mediocre. The sauce on the chicken sandwich was such a gloppy syrupy mess I had to throw half away.

Just wondering, when folks mention sit down dinning at UNI, do they forget to consider what City Walk has to offer? I just feel there are some decent meals to be had there that are not that inconvenient to get to.

The parks tend not to be open too late the times of year we visit and we can often wait to have dinner when we are done with the parks. I agree for lunch, Springfield has made it easier to grad an ok meal...but sometimes it feels like we can spend a little more and enjoy our meal more by going to Finns
