It was Christopher Walken being Christopher Walken. What's not to love? Your welcome.

I'll be honest.. Walken was great. But.. I could've used a little more cowbell. :pound:

Walken does Walken well,if that makes sense. There was a little of the "Deerhunter" in that role. Growing up in the neighborhood of the Deerhunter film, Walken's portrayals always stick with me....I have a copy of the 1950's NBC Peter Pan on VHS. If anyone thinks Walken's performance was over the top, they need to see Cyril Richard in that role. It's "the" Capt. Hook.No one could possibly do it better.

Is this thread about Walken?

Seeing as how Skip has said this to me in the past, it's refreshing to use his own words against him! (He actually said "Avatar" over in the Kong thread...I just edited one word for this one.) :P

Let it be known that I'm just being a smarta$$ and am in no way serious. Lol!

So I think it's a good time to bump this thread to contain all the speculation.

Furious 7 became the highest grossing film ever in China this weekend in only 15 days. This is very good news for any potential USF attraction.

Won't it be a hoot if it is China getting the F&F attractions and not Orlando. That would be a slap in the kissuh!

It has also topped Frozen. For those playing the home game, the magic marker for getting an overlay and a new ride is $1.275bn ;)

It's only 20 million away from beating HP as well. This has been a major surprise for everyone, can only imagine how well 8 will do.

So is the thinking that this will end up being a variation on what Hollywood is getting, or is there even a slight chance USF could get a bigger, faster (as in, non-simulated speed), and more physical ride experience? If the show-stopping setpiece of the ride would be a 360 tunnel, would it not run the risk of being too similar to what they're already building for Kong? The content of the rides would be different, of course, but it sounds like the new F&F in Hollywood and what Kong is going to be will have the same underlying methodology.

Given that it appears this has been fast-tracked, I'm under the assumption it's going to be heavily based on what they've already built in Hollywood, rather than a completely new concept for the IP, and while I'll take what I can get, I guess, I'd rather have a unique ride experience (read: a type of ride not already found in the parks) go into USF than another mega-attraction that's heavily simulator-ish.

Probably not as much because it won't have the increased ticket sales because of the "Paul walker affect"

I think a lot of people are WAY over hyping that. It may have boosted ticket sales in the US a bit, but these movies have been growing in leaps and bounds for 4 entries. There's a lot more to this movie's success than that.

I'd rather they take their time to make a real life-like attraction like Test Track, than to fast track another screen based addition. I don't mind waiting.

Screens are going to be a big part of the experience no matter what. They didn't film scenes with huge movie stars to never use them again.

And the dynamic of the films has changed quite a bit. If we were talking the first 3 movies, sure that'd work. A race between 2 cars, maybe. But now, they are just action epics. Explosions, fights, gun shots, aerial vehicles. It'd have to be screen based if it wants to be faithful to the films that have skyrocketed it's popularity.

Perhaps something like Italian Job Stunt Track, but with major special effects and launch sequences

So, is Project 620 Fast and Furious Orlando or not? Can anyone confirm? Especially you campers at Parkscope?

Without arguing whether HRRR should or will be replaced at some point.......does anyone think that general footprint would be a good spot for a new Furious attraction? For some reason I picture a screen based first half of the ride and then a launched coaster style finale. I know that is different from Hollywoods new Furious attraction.......but I think that this would be the perfect replacement for HRRR and the perfect spot for it.
