I really liked Jurassic World but its not Jurassic Park.

That being said, I honestly hope they build some cool new attraction based on the new movie, but I Do not want to see a complete retheme of the island. I just don't think it's necessary.

There isn't enough room in JP to build a Full Scale attraction without eliminating an attraction though.

Listen, I'm glad that's your opinion...

But no. JW was in no way, shape, or form anywhere near as good as Jurassic Park. JW is a very good popcorn movie. JP is one of the best blockbusters ever made.

As for expansions to the existing land...I could see some sort of coaster coming, but I still don't see how you build a dark ride that can be satisfyingly different from River Adventure.

I always figured they could do a small-scale safari ride (see the little buggies in Singapore's Egypt section) with some calm herbivores. Nothing big, but a nice little B/C ticket to flesh things out. (OR we could get a Helicoptours ride on land that definitely no longer exists. That'd be neat.)

I think if they got creative they could fit a small coaster in the island including a small show scene. But yea, no room for anything substantial.

If they had the room that could work. Problem with Helicoptours is I don't see how it could be anything other than a traditional simulator.

Yeah, there is still a large piece of land available in Trike. If they tricked the high parts of a coaster into rock atop the caves in CJ they could have a clever little attraction I think.

What do people think is the minimum threshold, box office wise, JURASSIC WORLD needs to reach in order for Universal to pull the trigger on a substantial (or at least as substantial as the available land will allow) addition to JP? The movie's tracking to do somewhere in the area of $125 million domestically this weekend.

Having seen the movie - and having enjoyed it - I'm pulling for it to do well just on its own merits... but also because I'd love to see Universal fast track something for the land.

I think if it makes over a billion worldwide we could see something. The problem is there's so much on the docket that I'm not sure if it can do enough to knock something else off the schedule

It could make a good pair with the KidZone replacement, unless there's another project in that timeline that I'm not aware of. That'd be about in-line with a Jurassic World sequel.

If Jurassic World reaches the (admittedly lofty) expectations of 125 million and holds well against Inside Out and Ted 2 in the coming weeks (culminating in around a billion worldwide gross, like Sean said), I'd expect some sort of reaction. Can't say it'll be huge - but I could see some fast tracked rebranding, perhaps some upgrades to the River Adventure they can tie into the film - new dinos, shinier theming befitting the new aesthetic - something they can push as a rebrand, ala Spider-Man.

As far as a brand new attraction... the only spot left is the Trike plot. They could fit in something small to moderate there, depending on how they allocate space. If it could be done cheaply (re: the buggy idea I mentioned, or a small coaster of some sort), then I could see it getting shoved in there.

I think they could MAYBE get a bit more creative with a coaster and have it run through the center of the land, down towards the old boat dock, and run low around the lagoon side of the land towards the trike plot, but that might be a bit too ambitious.

What might be smarter is finally killing off the Flyers and building a proper Pteranadon themed coaster with a much higher capacity. Family themed experience, but covers much more of the island's territory (including dipping down by the boat dock, like you mention.)

It got 18.5 million last night, this is going to open higher than expected. I agree the legs are a bit iffy, but I don't think it'll have a problem getting 1 billion.

My gut tells me somewhere between $800k and $1.1b just based on the cinema climate right now and what's coming up over the next few weeks.

Ain't this special... I'll bet the UOR chefs have been slaving for months over a barbeque sauce that would conjour "Jurassic World"... not. It's just a sign kids, same ribs as ever, move along...

I would think if you took out Discovery Center and the land behind it and the flyers you'd have enough land to make a substantial addition while also upgrading river adventure and re-branding the entire island.

Jurassic World estimates for Thursday is 18M domestic and 24M international. I think it's going to be big.

I wouldn't be against an island re-theme. Especially if it's trying to appeal to teens or young adults. Last night at my showing, I overheard an adult say to the kids of the family, who were maybe 14, "Now you have to see the originals". For people not alive in 1993, JW might have been the first time they experienced a JP movie, and since JW stands on its own, there's no need to see the originals. JW would have a stronger pull with those people, while JP has a stronger pull for older people. Depends who they want to attract.

Despite of what you think of world, you can't deny it's a better setting and lends more to a theme park than the original JP. There's no way at all to expand JP with JW, it's either one or the other. I also think a movie having to make a billion dollars in the box office to become worthy enough of a retheme is ridiculous. It's not in the numbers (although it's gonna be successful no matter what), it's in the merch, sequel potiental and attraction concepts and JW hits all three with a bullseye. Like it or not, this could be a high contender for the future of the resort

Is jurrasic world supposed to be the beginning of a new trilogy or just a one off?

"We wanted to create something that would be a little bit less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story." - Colin Treverrow, though he's also said he won't direct a sequel
