Messy might have been the wrong word but the word priority seems a little off. It may be the angle though.

If they don't sell Corona and tank tops in the gift shop, I'll consider it a failure.

so it's trying to be L.A. even though it's San Francisco?

Well F&F films are based in LA (at least the first and 7th). I know the ride in USH is based there too...

Yes, but this ride is taking place in San Francisco, per Universal.

I think that Jymmy was just being clever and offering west coast perspective of graffiti. I was actually shocked to see the graffiti in Paris recently on the news... so I am far from worldly. Give those boys and girls some papier and leave the marble sculpture alone!

If I remember correctly, actual graffiti artists came in to paint the construction walls. I believe there was also a competition where the winner gets to have their work featured in the new attraction.

Having seen it in person, it's great, fits the style of the ride and honestly looks pretty nice.

Paris has a huge problem in public places with graffiti. Most cities have it. In the UK and Germany the rail tracks are hot targets for taggers

Oh, I wasn't denying that. I was simply saying that this is not something that is based solely on LA. Graffiti is everywhere as you said.

San Fran actually has an area called "Clarion Alley". Here's a few pics:

Miami's beautiful Wynwood Walls is the best Graffitti area i've ever experienced though. Amazing talent and wonderful, free art museums.

I think you hit the nail on the head. 'Art Museum'

It's only graffiti because it's out on a wall without permission. The content of some of these pieces is pure talent! The last two especially

And in Miami, they've actually embraced it and it's really not a crime to do it within that specific area. It's a tourist destination and any continued art helps support the restaurants, shops, etc that really take advantage of their beautiful surroundings. For example:

As the posts above show, graphiti can be WAY more than bubble fonts and tacky colors. There are good and bad examples for pretty much any medium of art. These work walls just look like a bunch of suits just stood around and thought "we need something urban"

And those same suits could have said, "Just throw up whatever. Who cares?"

Instead they went out, paid graffiti artists, and made themed construction walls. I'll take that over the other option any day.
