There seems to be some potential for it. I think if Universal contributed to the project and wanted to link in with it it could seal the deal to get things going.

I seem to remember hearing about a cable system that allowed multiple trains. Although to be fair I've never really looked into those systems that much, I'm more a fan of monorails. I agree though multiple trains will be needed.

I've not heard of that, but I also don't pay as much attention to that kind of transport, as my interests are more in more typical rail and people movers/monorails, so it is certainly possible I just don't know of it.

As for an OIA connection, there are a lot of politics and red tape around that, but it does seem to be possible. I believe they're building the new south terminal with multiple light rail stations in anticipation of that kind of system expanding beyond just SunRail.

EDIT: Found what you were talking about on Doppelmayr's website, a "Cable Linear Pinched Loop System." Hogwarts Express is a Cable Linear Bypass System.

The Pinched Loop Configuration minimizes headway times because it provides three or more trains in simultaneous operation. This design uses several haul rope loops, which adjoin and overlap one another at stations. Switching the trains between the haul ropes creates a synchronized, circular flow of trains around the system.

However, keep in mind that Florida has been discussing a rail system from Daytona to Orlando and the parks to Tampa since the 1970's. Politicians keep shoving it aside by vote.

The only rail going out of Orlando International anytime soon is the All Aboard Florida commuter rail to Miami.

I've wanted to show this idea I've had ever since the thought occurred. But a bit of explanination before I go on.

With the WNW Plot, its been heavily rumored that a brand new hotel would be taking over. But to also add, there are some rumors/speculation of some sort of Transportation hub being built in this area. To me, I thought about something in particular..what if the current WNW Parking lot and the holding area for VB gets a re-structure with a parking lot similar to how Mickey and Friends is?

Encase if you don't know, excluding the exterior overflow, Mickey and Friends Parking Structure is almost about 15 acres. Estimating with the WNW Parking Lot/Holding zone that's being used for VB, its about a similar size to add a large parking structure.

This, was essentially what I had thought of.

tCsAWU9.jpg

1.) New Hotel Structure, with a tower the height of 123 Feet high
2.) New Transportation Station for a system similar to the Cabled system seen from HE
3.) Valet Parking drop-off/Pickup for Hotel/Transportation
4.) Outdoor area for Hotel use
5.) Dining
6.) Extension of the waterfront
7.) Hotel Pool area
8.) New Massive four to five floor parking garage to hold vast amounts for Transport/Hotel
9.) New Holding Area for future projects
10A/10B/10C.) New Parking Entrances/Exits for the cars {Reuses WNW parking lot entrances/exits}
11A/11B.) Greenery/foliage/Terrain
12.) Fountain area
13.) Plaza for when you exit the star-ways nearby the Pedestrian Bridge
14.) Pedestrian Bridge
15.) Pathway for Hotel/Transport guests

So, this is..examinative. I'll just go in the simple terms. Essentially, it'd be a combined Transportation hub/Hotel, with a massive new parking structure to hold not only guests of the 123 feet high hotel (think of the tower being like the Encore of Las Vegas); but to hold as a station for the Central link of getting people from UONorth to UOSouth.

And as for the theme; something came to thought. It'd be a great opportunity to go with the boardwalk theme proposed on this forum by other members, as it'd allow a mix of all the themes we've had of oceanic themes.

It may not be possible, but i'd see this as a great possibility. And as much as I have taken so much time; its something I wanted out of my damned head for a while. So, I hope this idea is a good one for yall; just like when I had the ideas of Kidzone.

Nothing's impossible. But the reason why I pointed out the possibility of the parking structure where the current WNW Parking and holding area currently in use for VB is that it'd serve as a middle point. If you have three giant parking structures (UON Parking structure/WNW Parking Structure/UOS Parking Structure), it'd allow a high capacity for parking, combined with directing flow.

And that's more why I point it not as a 'Hub' but more as a roadblock. A place to have people enter and exit UOR. Plus, if you have the transport cars project a journey to and from, it'd allow them to think that you haven't gone "off property".

It's my most crazy idea to date, but it could add a lot of positives to the mix.

There's some logic to it, but the thing that kills it is that they're not going to completely reconfigure the I-4 ramps again so soon to accommodate this. They're in the midst of rebuilding all of that right now.

And the thought occurs. Wasn't it that Universal made an infrastructure with the road, Universal Blvd to have it go to the plot that we have now (only expanded in its size)? But during 'the dark ages', they sold off that land?

It could be simply the manner of reevaluating those plans of transportation and accomomdate a new system. But who knows, evening if it's apart of the past, it doesn't mean that you can't dig it back up.

I have heard multiple times that Universal wants this but Disney is against it. Disney uses all its weight to block it.

Understandable from a business perspective because it could potentially hurt attendance at the parks

One rumor is that if Universal ever gave up Marvel that Disney support for a Universal airport monorail would be part of the deal.

I doubt those old plans would have included anything on the Wet 'n Wild plot. If I recall correctly, Universal didn't purchase it until well after they had sold off all of the other land. Yes, Universal Blvd. was probably planned with some sort of mass transit in mind running down the middle, but probably anchored by parking at either end, where the garages are now and down by the Orange County Convention Center.

I don't think that's a fair trade.

If I were Universal I would be working on building a very strong relation with the convention center. Even if Disney puts a lot of weight against an airport transit line it would be hard for them to argue against one that serves the convention center. Also if they really want to maximize land use they could offer to build a shared garage on the convention centers parking lot. This could be the ultimate transportation hub. The rail line from the airport comes into the convention center hub which is connected to the parking garage, guests can then transfer to the universal transit system from there.

Yeah but Spider-Man is one of their most distinguished rides Universal has.

I don't think it would hurt attendance, but I could see Disney feeling like they're getting shafted. Universal gets a government subsidized method of transportation to their parks from the airport while Disney is spending tons of money on their Magical Express service.
