If the city was on site there must have been some kind of confusion with the plans or they needed clarification on something. This happened in our community a couple times. You start talking with the city or county and they are confused about how something will work or how the land is today and so you get an on-site meeting with the government officials and Universal to go over everything and work on a solution for what ever problem they are working on. This is all part of the pre-talk I talked about before. This happens before "official" plans are submitted to be voted on.

It sounds like they were on site at the current resort, not Site B

I was chatting with a bar man at Disney about how universal were expanding and pumping a ton of cash into their resort, the conversation got on to the new land purchase and boy did he get defensive "ah they'll never be able to build on that dump off land" and "universal will always be playing catch up".

What is our it with folk lol, seriously blinded by pixie dust.

Can't wait till they break ground our release plans for that land, I'll be site to head back for a smug pint

It could also be that they just brought them out to show them how great everything they do is. It's always a good idea to get out and view these things on ground level in person to give perspective to plans and concepts and they could just be trying to help them visualize their plan.

That definitely could be the reason, but I doubt it. It's a little late in the process.

Yep. Orange County Planning Division would be touring South Universal as the City Of Orlando limits don't extend too far past Current Universal.

But City of Orlando would be at the Wet n Wild site.

And they are doing work at the current site. I am not saying it is for the 3rd park, but it could be transportation related for the 3rd site or it could be related to any of the other million of projects out there. But normally these meetings happen when there is a question or plan that needs clarification.

I don't know why anyone would be negative about Universal Orlando's expansion plans.

They're adding all of this between 2016 and 2018: Hello Kitty shop/Kong/Hulk revamp/Sapphire Falls/steampunk chocolate factory/Fallon/F&F/Cabana Bay expansion/Volcano Bay/further CityWalk enhancements.

And they steadily added things between 2012-2014, too.

Beyond that, there's Nintendo, a possible Avengers/MSHI revamp, a possible DC revamp, possible Potter and Seuss additions, a possible nighttime parade and upgraded daytime parade for USF, the long-rumored IOA nighttime lagoon show, and whatever happens to TL/LC/Shrek/T2/Fear Factor for the current parks.

Then, there are plans for a 3rd theme park, a new entertainment complex, more hotels (2-4), and a convenient transportation system in development that could link Universal to the other Orlando attractions sans Disney.

And likely room to spare for another park and some unique experiences in the far, far future.

They may not have 26,000 or so acres, but who needs it when 1,000-1,500 acres gives guests the same quality of experience for a better value and far less traveling?

Very interesting. City of Orlando usually doesn't do that so whatever it may be it has to be something that can be of value. Be it transit or conceptual design.

Also sounds as though I-Square isn't happening..... Universal should and I wish they would buyout everything or as many parcels as possible between the boarders of
East of Universal Blvd
South of I-4
West of Kirkman
North of Sand Lake.

Thanks! I think by not being a local, I miss the small details such as the fact that it being the city would have different meaning from it being the county.

Both. Mainly looking at Discovery Cove (needed boutique for Universal...make it an actual resort they will have something to compete with AKL) and Aquatica (replace Wet N Wild revenue and place for locals).

My only thing with that, that would hurt some o the other flagship resorts partnerships with Sea World. I also don't like Universal existing pass Universal Blvd. The county has terrible zoning, but nothing the parks can do about that now. I don't want them to buy the land at Sea World. But if Sea World is ever for Sale, I'd like Universal to buy the Sea World itself, and incorporate it's marine tributes and attractions into their existing and future park(s) here in Orlando.

This could be a great resort for Universal Orlando

10 resorts
Royal Pacific
Sapphire Falls
Nintendo-themed resort
Harry Potter-themed resort
Portofino
Hard Rock
Golden Age Hollywood-themed hotel
Cabana Bay
Cartooniversal-type resort similar to AoA
Horror-themed resort

4 theme parks

Universal Studios Florida
Islands of Adventure
Uni's 3rd gate
SeaWorld Orlando

2 water parks
Volcano Bay
Aquatica

2 entertainment complexes
CityWalk
WnW replacement

1 boutique park
Discovery Cove

Maybe 10 resorts are too small (could see 12-15 total in a 4 parks/2 water parks/1 boutique setup)

Universal Orlando wouldn't be far off at all from WDW with that kind of lineup, despite having a fraction of the space.

It has come to my attention that all of this glorious theme park construction around the world is beginning to take its toll on major USA themed vendors. Perhaps some of it is greed, a "catch while catch-can" attitude that has gotten out of hand. It is unclear what effect it is having on UC at this point but it is a fact that outside relationships are disintegrating and sometimes disappearing. This can't be good in the long run.

Nah... it is just sad and a sign of the times. I have known about this for months and months... both Dis and Uni. They are both clawing for the best and in some cases, the best are over committed and falling short.

You really cant go anywhere on these forums and not find some kind of conversation that has absolutely nothing to do with the thread at hand. Can we just freaking start a thread for off topic conversations? I feel like that's all I ever run into anyways nowadays.
