I don't know how it is now, but when I worked for a multi-national software company every time we'd have one of our colleagues come in from Europe (and especially from the UK), they always wanted to go out for steak when in the U.S.. Now at the time there was an outbreak of hoof & mouth in Europe and the UK, so beef was expensive there so it was a bit of a treat for them. I don't know if it's still this way or not, but I know steak places seem to still be a big deal here in Orlando overall, with lots of people on vacation opting to splurge on a steak.

I'm not sure, but if I had to guess the chocolates they sell are produced here in Orlando by a local chocolate maker. I remember seeing a profile of his work on TV one day and as soon as I saw the chocolates offered I thought they looked familiar, though I'm sure they could be made in house or by another maker.

David Ramirez Chocolates

I just kind of assume they bring them in from a local maker just like they do with the donuts (from Donut King) and the craft brews.

Is there a Ruth's Chris somewhere along Sand Lake Rd or is that a different expensive steak house?

I don't ever remember foot and mouth disease leading to a shortage but I would have been far too young to know any different.

I think there is a slight fascination with the way the US do steaks from us over the pond. I can't put my finger on what it is though.

I knew this lawsuit was coming. For the past couple of months there was this company on Twitter replying to Magic City Mayhem and bioreconstruct posts saying that they were going to sue Universal.

That is a strange way to announce your intentions. Is that the way notice is being done these days?

Do you have charcoal grills or gas grills in Britain? There are two ways to age the meat, dry, and I guess the other one is not dry? :saywhat:

You might want to visit a Publix supermarket in Orlando next time as they have this weird 6' section of nothing but Brit foods for the expats. I used to look at it and snarl and tip my head sideways in disbelief. One product that stood out was Heinz beans in tomato sauce. That killed me.

Out of curiosity I looked up the domain name registration details for "toothsomechocolatefactory.com" and it was originally registered on March 27th, just under 2 weeks from universal's original blog post announcement (march 14th). So it seems this has been in the works for a while.

If you google the person's name, you will find some interesting news reports from the same city where the domain name is registered (same somewhat obscure name) Men charged with impersonating Austin women online to damage thei | www.statesman.com

If that is indeed the same person (it may not be) this just furthers the idea that this is a frivolous lawsuit in my opinion. It just seems extremely similar with him also registering domain names in the article. If he tries to claim him owning the toothsome website as proof of "ownership of the idea" he wont go anywhere.

From what it sounds like, Toothsome's Desert Options and Gift Shop will be opening publicly at 11 AM on Monday, while the full dining establishment opens at 4 PM on the same day..

(and yes, I edited..)

The man named on the suit isn't claiming to own the toothsome website as a way of proof of ownership. The toothsome website wSnt brought up, though the entire thing smells very fishy to me. That Toothsome website is now gone, and several of the photos used on the website are public photos on the mans own Facebook page. (Yeah, I'm that guy... But hey, why not do some digging on the story). Looks like he may have deliberately set up the Toothsome website as an attempt at a smear tactic against Universal, which will surely bite him big time in any suit attempt. You are right in assuming it is the same man from your article charged with falsifying domain names to smear a Texas woman he had dated once. Looks like old habits die hard.

And his trademark on the name The Chocolate Factory would likely quickly be overturned in court when put under any scrutiny. Just google the name... You get results for The Chocolate Factory sub and hot fudge sundae restaraunt chain that has been around sense the 70's... And you also get The Chocolate Factory, an actual chocolate factory in Kentucky again in operation sense the 70's... And a few others that use that exact company name that were founded long before he registered the trademark in 2014. And what's funny is all of these long standing buisnesses come up LONG before his company website appears... I think I had to make it to page 3 on google before his company at all popped up. Common law trademarks laws would come into effect and he would quickly lose.

A quick look at the guys Linkin page is all the red flags you need. This lawsuit will be dead and buried before it ever gets off the ground.
