This doom stuff is fascinating... it's obvious they waited until Hulk was open to shut it down. Yet without any mention is curious... on the other hand, it is the trashiest attraction in the park so perhaps they just don't care and felt that no one else would.

It's is fun not having a clue and just watching...

On the topic of Doom... Doom is one of those rides where the queue builds you up so much and then you get there and it's just pretty much the lamest ride in the park. It's a waste of space.

Would work better if totally enclosed. But then you would lose the skyline.

Not a fan of the ride but the alley going there looks nice and it the best themed area of that Island (imho).

Doom is still down. Team member said it is down for "sort of planned" maintenance. No scheduled finish time. It will open when techs clear it for operation.

The word on the block is Doom will be down for a few weeks while the locking mechanisms for the restraints get replaced. Seems like it was really just a planned rehab and general upkeep.

I am all for locking mechanisms on the restraints being in perfect working order.

That takes all the fun out of the ride. Where's the suspense of whether you'll fly into space or not. And something terrible goes wrong. There goes the standard Universal story device, down the drain.

I told the Army I didn't want to jump out of a perfectly safe airplane. I also do not want to fly out of a perfectly good ride.

"Because the door is open". And that makes perfect sense to me... Of course I did thousands of headers through untold numbers of soccer (football) matches. So I sometimes have a different view of things.
