Uni's internal note to TMs mentions their onsite hotels are at capacity.

When I called my Universal resort yesterday to re-book for an October date, the guy thanked me for rescheduling and not just cancelling - said they had a "lot of" cancellations yesterday. I think a lot of people originally thought that Orlando was away from the storm, but now realize they have to go a lot further North to escape the wrath....

And while I find myself frustrated with Disney's apparent lack of speed when things are inevitable, they do have only a certain processing capacity for things.

They cant have their call centers and websites all overwhelmed with cancellations, rebookings, inquiries, etc... all at the same time. So little bits of the larger whole are given out to sort of cap the traffic. Annoying, but people will inevitably call in a panic the second the they hear the parks are closed and ask if their mid-October trip will be effected by a hurricane.

Their internal websites, which deal with a known quantity of total users, are struggling to keep up with the load.

Disney Minigolf has moved their closing times up to 5pm on Saturday.

Nevermind - data dump:

Disney’s Blizzard Beach: Closed as of Friday, 9/8 – Monday, 9/11

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon: Closing Saturday 9/9 at 5 PM – Monday, 9/11

ESPN Wide World of Sports: Closed on Saturday, 9/9 – Monday, 9/11

Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Closing on Saturday, 9/9 at 7 PM – Monday, 9/11

  • The Saturday, 9/9 Rivers of Light performance is canceled.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Closing on Saturday, 9/9 at 7 PM – Monday, 9/11

  • The Saturday, 9/9 Fantasmic! and Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular performances are canceled.
Epcot: Closing on Saturday, 9/9 at 9 PM – Monday, 9/11

  • The Saturday, 9/9 Illuminations Reflections of Earth performance is canceled.
Magic Kingdom: Closing on Saturday, 9/9 at 9 PM – Monday, 9/11

  • The Saturday, 9/9 Happily Ever After fireworks performance is canceled.
Disney Springs: Closing on Saturday, 9/9 at 9 PM – Monday 9/11

Honestly, what's the point in keeping Epcot and MK open until 9? Especially with no fireworks... it's pointless. Just close earlier and let CMs get home.

They probably will. They did last time. It'll depend on how they feel the conditions are deteriorating. First part is that they stop deducting days from tickets at the front, then they make parkwide announcements of closure within a few hours.

So Disney is closing some parks at NINE PM and they think they'll reopen Monday?

Are they on drugs?

Hm... weather patterns must be changing as this thing is trending more west with every update. Miami or Naples or a gulf storm? It is morbidly fascinating for one who is from away.

If by some slim chance it ends up bypassing FL for the Gulf, Louisiana could be in for a rough hit.

I'm pretty sure it will hit FL though and hit it hard.

Seen many posts online perplexed as to why people are buying frozen food...

Ya'll know chicken nuggets come fully cooked, right? Lots of frozen foods are just warmed to be more appetizing.

The name of the site should be changed to "Outside Universal" while the parks are closed.

I was just down there. I'm back home in west broward now (more inland). Just going to chill here and ride it out now.

They definitely can't say the parks are closed until further notice. It's probably a ploy to minimize the number of cancellations?

No, I would have been long gone. My house was built post hurricane Andrew and is built well. Got all the shutters up and just chilling watching the weather channel.
