I still think the area from One Man's Dream through the Animation Courtyard will eventually go for more Pixar Stuff/a better flow on that side of the park

I think we've gone beyond promotions. They're setting expectations too high for what they're offering. It's like if they built a slow moving simulator around a franchise based on fast action and furious scenes then are confused why the general public think it sucks.

The year of "over promise and under deliver" from Universal and Disney

They should hang a sign on F&F and TSL that says: "Sorry, we'll do better next time"

Those buildings on the right were going to be super skinny, not very deep. And the space on the left is going to be utilized by something else besides the original barn (meet and greets maybe?) So, I don't think that leaves enough space for another attraction... Or at least not enough for a new ride AND a queue.

Oh, and btw, according to MansionButler over on Magic, he's hearing that the THEORETICAL capacity for Slinky will be a meager 1000 pph. Yikes. And you have to take into account that this is an outdoor coaster too.

Ouch!! That is terrible capacity, especially for a coaster. They should have three trains running with a ride time of 45 seconds (on the high side of probable ride time). So, I won't be riding this coaster this year and maybe even next. Of course, I'm not the targeted demographic.

I think we'll eventually see that, too, though I doubt much (if any) of that area would be annexed by Toy Story Land.

I don't have a current aerial view handy, but off the top of your head do you think there would be room for any additional attraction - let's say even something small on the order of a carousel - anywhere in the current land as we know it?

They should have put something in the middle of the Slinky Dog layout, because that thing is eating up like 80% of the land.

No probably not, but it would solve congestion issues

DHS will have EMH mornings daily when TSL opens to help with the crowds. Good for hotel guests but bad for anyone not staying on property hoping to get in early to avoid the big lines.

Considering EMH doesn't do much to quell Pandora lines, I think the point is moot. People staying off property are screwed either way, since they only have 30 days fast pass reservations. They are all gone at 60.

True. I wonder if this will come back to bite them when it happens over and over for new rides.

Exactly. And even the 60 days is a bit of a misnomer. Generally people book multiple days vacation on site. Touring Plans is saying that the FOP fastpasses are usually all gone at the 60, 61, and 62 day mark and don't become available until 63 days. Example: If you arrive on a Sunday, you'll probably have to wait until the Weds. of your vacation to get a FOP fastpass. And Disney doesn't hold any fastpasses back, and make them available day of, for FOP, Navii River,Seven Dwarfs or Frozen. So the only way to get a fastpass for those attractions day of is if someone cancels and you were lucky enough to be refreshing your app at that time. I'm guessing both new TSL attractions will be handled the same way, and the only way you'll be able to get a fastpass in advance is if you have, at minimum, a three or four day vacation on site. One or two days on site, you'll probably be zero chance of getting a FP. (Touring Plans had a special article and accompanying graphs on the 60 day fastpass situation a couple of weeks ago)

this is absolutely true. On my last trip I was only able to score a FOP FP on my last day (of a 4 day trip), which originally was planned at another park.
So I actually had the change my entire itinerary, including hard to get dining reservations, to secure one.
This is why I feel the FP system is a failure. It's basically become impossible to get sought after FP without months of planning, and waking up at 7am to secure what's left over.

Even with all that planning you run the risk of the attraction being down all day (or more).

I don't see Universal being in this Disney situation in the forseeable future, for a number of reasons;
* WDW attendance is much larger than Universal. MK's huge attendance drives the entire resort, and creates imbalances.
*WDW has over 28,000 hotel rooms eligible for 60 day fastpasses. At 2, 3, 4, 5 occupants a room, that's a lot of people for any new attraction to absorb.
*WDW's new attractions , for the most part, have had low capacity.
*Except for MK, the Disney Parks have a serious issue with not enough rides in the parks for the attendance generated
* WDW has been cutting staffing and vehicle usage on their rides during, not just slow days, but all non peak days, which creates longer lines.
Conversely:
* Universal's two parks have an adequate number of rides for their attendance, and additional attendance.
*Most of Universal's new rides have high capacity
*Even though Universal is building new hotels, their present, and near future, room inventory is considerably less than Disneys.
*Universal has a large number of rides that utilize single riders. That serves the purpose of achieving full ride capacity better than WDW, and also providing a nice customer service alternative of waiting in a considerably shorter line. WDW only has three or four single rider line attractions, and they're not very customer friendly with their use of it. Universal very aggressively seats their single riders. Disney seems like they couldn't care less.
I really see no need for a Virtual line system at Universal, and it seems it's more trouble than it's worth.

I wholeheartedly agree with every point you made except for the last one about the virtual queue. Virtual queue right now might not be necessary but it is still very nice to have. Besides, Universal might be that busy in 10 years.

My brother takes his family down to Universal regularly. In the summer when it is hot and all the lines are long it's good to know that he can book a ride with little wait and good air conditioning.

This was why I loved my visit to DL last month. With Maxpass, you have to be in the park to make your fastpass reservations and you could even make FP for rides in the other park. With EMH, I was able to make reservations before the GP was even through the gates. It was a great experience.

I could see them making a makeshift exit route when crowds get ridiculous. It’d start at the backstage gate near the future entrance to Galaxy’s Edge and continue through the current Pixar Place.

I believe they are closing Pixar Place once Toy Story Land opens and making it backstage area. Perhaps they could create an exit that runs along the berm of Star Wars Land and dumps you out into Grand Avenue? But that would involve backstage areas likely needed for the construction of Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway...
