See now this isn't true. We need to stop saying this. It was acceptable denial during soft openings but now it's just a lie. Out of 68 reviews on Google, 60 of them are 1 star out of 5 with most saying they wish they could give it zero stars. 90% or more of direct mentions of the ride on social media that aren't linked to a travel blog or website are not just negative, but overwhelmingly, embarrassingly negative. We need to stop with this "some people like it" nonsense. Sure. Some people like drinking cod-liver oil. They are in the vast minority. MOST people have and will continue to hate it and Universal is aware and are responding non-stop to negative feedback like you wouldn't believe. Every minute or two there is a "I'm so sorry you are disappointed with our new ride. We will be sure to document your feedback" all over social media. That is not normal. That did not happen non-stop on any previous ride opening. This is an anomaly and unprecedented and we need to stop pretending it isn't.

And yes, this is far worse than Empire of the Penguin. Far, far worse. I followed that ride opening closely and the feedback wasn't nearly as bad from the general public. Penguin also has mixed-positive reviews on Google dating back to the ride opening.

Although it may be true that most of the reception to this ride is negative, it's redundant to say that some people really liking the ride "isn't true". There will absolutely be people who love the ride. I know several diehard F&F and car fans who will probably love it. Opinions vary per person, so don't shoot down opinions that favor the ride just because they don't align with the vocal majority.

It creates a false and useless narrative to say, "some people will really enjoy it." As I said, some people like cod-liver oil. You don't put a cod-liver oil fountain soda option in the parks because 2 out of 2 million people like it. A tiny minority of people NOT hating something doesn't mean anything when constructing a huge theme park attraction for the masses. The entire idea of these rides is to appeal to everyone.

I agree the ride is not reviewing well, but to say everyone is going to hate it, is ridiculous.

I will say this, I have heard at-least one or two people in some cases, like it. But that we also have to face the music that not everyone will have the same opinion as you or me.

Do I like Drupercharged? No. But I'm not going to put people down if they liked it, and that's coming from someone who rode the "less superior" version of the attraction.

If there was one thing I liked, when I was in the Hollywood version, it was the sense of wind that was precedent in the 360. The CO2 was a bit much, but the wind (and the fact that I was in the middle third car), made the experience more adequate and sometimes enjoyable. But that, I had issues with the writing, the characters, and the effects, even with the changes that the Hollywood version made shortly after opening.

Dude, out of the millions of people a year who visit you're saying no one will like the ride? At all.

Some people WILL like the ride. In fact, it might be the first ride people rush to on their visit since it's the big, shiny new ride.

What it might do is actually deter their enjoyment of other attractions when they become the 4th or 5th screen ride they experience that day or during their visit to the resort. Depending on the order they experience it, Kong might become "Fast & Furious but in 3D" to some guests and "Kong but without 3D" to others.

This. It's impossible for something to be universally (no pun intended) hated, but the general consensus for the ride is very poor.

Sorry. I thought I clarified this statement several times but apparently not successfully. Yes, SOME people will like it. GENERALLY, people will not (and already have not) liked it. SOME people like all kinds of things that are objectively terrible and/or strange. Some people liked The Adventures of Pluto Nash. There were very few but some people did. Did the studio care that some people liked it or did they care that the vast majority thought it was the worst movie of the decade? It turns out it was the latter and it caused a ripple effect at the studio. Executives were fired. I'm of the opinion the same should happen here.

Bad example. Movies are rarely valued because of critical acclaim by studios, unless that acclaim leads to butts in seats. In the case of Pluto Nash, the studio cared that not enough people saw it. Executives were fired not because it was BAD, but because it lost so much money. There have been spectacular movies that were less successful.

I highly doubt any "attraction" could be worse than my all time worst which was "Journey Into Narnia" at MGM Studios. This was the first Orlando theme park ride I did and was like... "oh" granted that was an "attraction" and not a "ride". Hopefully I can get at least a so bad it's good type of feeling out of this. (I love horrible movies)

No example is perfect but there is absolutely a correlation between the badness of the movie and the money on the back end. The F CinemaScore guaranteed zero ancillary money from home entertainment, cable, and a rapid decline in the second weekend. In this case, there is no immediate impact on the bottom line here since these are theme parks and people don't pay to ride each ride. Things take time to have an effect but a slow decline in the perception of the parks from the public is worthy of a change at the top or some kind of mix-up in the executive team should the scores for this ride actually make a ding to the overall satisfaction scores. I believe it will.

Lets say you are right, everybody and his mother hates the ride. They don't buy the souvenirs, they don't ride the ride, they take the time to complain to customer service telling them they hate it with a passion and demand more because they are worth it, they go to TripAdvisor and tell everyone else they should hate it too. In a month the ride is almost empty. But it operates with the reservation system so the few that like it get a return time and the ride will operate with a tenth of it's capacity (more or less).
In the end each ride has a purpose; customer satisfaction, sails of souvenirs, reason to visit a park (and probably a few more). In the end if an attraction under perform they'll take it out. It's what happened with Twister, Disaster and Dragon Challenge.

I'm one of the very, VERY few people who loved Disaster.

I hope this accelerates (no pun intended) their desire to go back to practical/AA-based rides. So this may be a blessing in disguise for them.

This is all very true and well stated with one big exception. An illogical and misguided demand for synergy at all costs from top executives at the film studio and Comcast can override everything you just wrote if they continue to be as stubborn as they've been. A good example is green-lighting another version of this albatross for China. Even if something is bad for the parks, they justify it as being "good" for the company as a whole which is dangerous when taken to an extreme.

I also loved Disaster... That's what I'm most upset about Disaster closing. I was the MOST upset when I heard it was closing and then again when I heard it was becoming F&F. So for me this will always sting more than something like Jimmy Fallon which replaced a lackluster Twister or TSL which is replacing nothing. If the Mickey ride replacing TGMR is horrendous it could be a contender. If this replaced like Fear Factor Live or Shrek I would care a lot less.

DISASTER WAS FANTASTIC!!!!!!! (imho)

Every time I read someone post that Dragon challenge "under performed" I want to throw something.

Disaster was a very good attraction before the effects quit working and the trams had issues.
