I think it sort of does. Remember, he was hiding his force powers out of fear for so long. It seems like he's seen stuff, potentially even had has hands on the Dark Saber. I think it's possible he was once stronger with the force than he is now, but because of suppressing his powers, he is sort of like an out of shape athlete that hasn't played in awhile trying to get back in shape. He still knows the basics, but he needs to put in some work to get where he once was.

I'm less talking about his force prowess and more the fact that he was trained at the Jedi temple but can't talk and is a baby mentally.

To be fair, we've never seen one of Yoda's species at this age, so I guess it could just be the way they age? Ahsoka was able to communicate with him without him having the ability to actually speak, so perhaps that's how he was trained? Idk. I'm not too hung up on it.

Overall kinda meh on this episode unfortunately. Although I liked Mayfeld a lot more this time.
Gotta admit, for this being the second to last episode (and just in general), this is probably the most underwhelmed I’ve been at an episode all series. Why was Mayfeld even needed if Din could slice the system by himself?

There was some good stuff this episode, but like, there could’ve been so much more. Din taking off his helmet in order to save his adopted kid was cool and shows he has a point where he’s willing to break his code.

Also, what the hell happened to Boba’s Armor between this episode and last??

To be honest, by the end of this episode I felt like I was watching the pilot for Rangers of the New Republic.

I don't know why...but I liked this episode alot...I don't know if it was the directing or something and while storywise we didn't move far. I like Mayfeld character and the base felt real and I don't know I just enjoyed this episode.

Episode 2 is the only episode I have no enjoyed this season and even then....it wasn't the worst just not my style and two beast episodes in a row were a bit much

I actually love the Mayfeld character, especially after this episode. And to me I think it seems like he’s a shoe-in for the Rangers series.

Upon second viewing, I definitely like this episode a lot on its own. My only issue is with this being episode 7 of an 8 episode season, I guess I was just expecting more. I really hope the season finale is around an hour. I want an epic finale like last season.

I loved the last episode. Really good at establishing how evil the empire is, delivered all the while providing a bit more character development.

Also I wasn't expecting the action that set off the action sequence at the end.

I think this is probably my favorite episode of this season.

Honestly thought this episode was great because of the character development between Mayfield and Mando. Props to Bill Burr for his acting in this episode, it was amazing and I really felt for his character.

Really dig that Boba new paint job. And hearing the seismic charades go off is such an ear orgasm.

I also liked Operation Cider being talked about since that would be a huge event....and links Battlefront 2 in a way to this. Which makes me wonder if Iden Versio and or Del Meeko could show up or be a big part of the Republic Rangers show.

Yeah, one of my friends who I watch with and is a bit more of a casual (like, she had no idea who Ahsoka was so that wasn't a huge deal to her, no idea who Bo-Katan, etc), but came away from this episode saying she loved Mayfeld and she didn't want him to go. I was just like, don't worry lol. Especially since they just announced a show where I kind of now expect him to play at least a recurring role in.

Also, first episode without Grogu... and I kinda didn't miss him? I thought they did a great job of making sure there was enough of a team assembled around Mando so that you almost didn't even notice he wasn't in the episode.

I get that this doesn't feel like a penultimate episode of a season but I loved this episode.

The audio, in particular, was exceptional and it's the first time, I've really vibed with the series theme.

Credit to Bill Burr and Pedro Pascal for their acting chops and digging beyond the surface of the story.

Also, it was weird to be happy to see a Stormtrooper, right?

Yeah, after sitting on it and watching it a second time, I did really enjoy this episode.

The scene where Mando and Mayfield are inside the base and Mayfield is like, I can't do it because I used to serve under that guy and Mando just says "Give it to me". That was an EXTREMELY well written, directed and acted scene. I could really feel the desperation in Mando there. Baby Yoda is literally the only being in the Galaxy that Din would be willing to take off his helmet for in front of other people. It really sort of drove home how much he cares for this kid and how much he's willing to sacrifice (in this case, his code).

SUPER nerdy, but interesting look at where we may be headed:
First of all, I personally think Moff's goal is to head to Kamino, but this is what I came to post:

Oh hey this episode RULED, because it does what Mando does best. No ridiculous lore connections, just great forward momentum towards the title character’s goals. More of this, less of episodes 2-4

Well, the Rhydonium and Operation Cinder were pulling rather deep from the lore, but the difference is this lore wasn't used as a backdoor pilot (although I stand by my comment that this felt like a backdoor pilot episode of the Rangers of the New Republic series). I don't think bringing in other Mandalorian's like Bo-Katan can necessarily be seen as a "ridiculous lore connection", especially when she's looking for the Dark Saber, too. I fully expect her to show up in the finale to try and claim it from Gideon.

Episode 2 has basically no connections and still was by far the worst episode this season. It's very much fine to have things connect to other things.

Maul is the best of Clone Wars and Rebels, doesn't weaken a show to take parts from other and use them. The Jedi in Episode 5 literally told us the name and some back story of the child, but if it was some no names Jedi that episode would have been better?

Also Mayfeild literally left the Empire because of Project Cinder that is in "new" books and Battlefront 2 the video game. So the episode sucks because if you haven't played the game you can't fully understand the context.

I have no clue what Rhydonium is, and a throwaway line is different than the backdoor pilot feel of 3 of the episodes this season.

Oh man do I disagree with “Maul is the best of Clone Wars and Rebels”.

As for episode 5, I could have done without the Child’s backstory and name all together. I’m also of the opinion there should be no Jedi in the galaxy save for Luke ATM. Episode 5 was just bad top to bottom for me.

Episode 2 was bad because it was just total wheel spinning, something else the show does too much

The stuff Mando and Migs delivered. It’s from the animated shows and Legends before that.

I made that quite clear in my post. But I still feel like this episode in itself felt like a back door pilot for Rangers.

Then I think you are going to hate...like hate Star Wars from this point on. Bad Batch is not only a sequel to clone wars but has at least one character from Mando in it as well. Obi Wan is bringing back old actors and might even show how the child escaped. Ashoka is a sequel to rebels , Rangers of the Republic is a spin off of Mando, Ander is a prequel to Rogue one and even the show in the High Republic I am sure will link to the new books and comics in that timeline.

And if you didn't like Maul in Clone Wars or Rebels...wow are you off base from most fans. Maul is in most the episodes with the highest ratings

Yeah, Fennec is in Bad Batch and rumor is we’re going to see how Grogu escaped during Order 66.
