I'm going for the first time since 2017 next month, from September 6-9th, with two people who've never been at all, and I've been hyping up the Mummy all year long... Ugh. They have been so excited to ride it to see how it blows our version out of the water. Gonna be an incredible disappointment if this doesn't miraculously open, especially since this'll likely be the one and only time they ever go to Orlando (and, possibly, my last, too).

My dates are very close to yours. I’m also bringing a person who has never been, who I’ve hyped the mummy up to for years. I haven’t been in a decade. This is super frustrating. I’m just hoping for some good news…

They took Rip Ride Rock-it's scheduled maintenance off of the calendar completely, so I'd imagine they don't expect Mummy to come back up for a little while longer. Wouldn't be good to have both coasters down at the same time.

Why can’t it be they are just fixing the bugs and working out the kinks ?

Not everything has to be a “botch” job or failure on the behalf of Universal. Things happen and can go wrong unexpectedly. Especially updating a decades old ride system.

Yeah I think that’s part and parcel of theme park rides that things can go wrong unexpectedly. The nature of saying it’s a botch job was more in regards to if Universal missed their own summer deadline and considering the timescale they gave themselves I think they’d be disappointed too.

Here’s hoping this is all irrelevant discussion though and the ride is open in no time at all!

Stuff happens....Everest, at AK, was down for two days this week, after doing a long refurb that lasted to April. Rumor on Magic was it pertained to control and computer issues, and that was part of the update,

Exactly. I also think the biggest issue is that new components to play well with older components. Personally I feel that the RVs might be acting up with the new launch system too.

Yeah, as long as it’s not an actual incompatibility between new and old hardware, I’m not really worried. It’s for all intents and purposes a brand new coaster with complicated switch tracks and launches and that takes time to get working at full capacity, as we saw with Hagrids and Gringotts (remember how fussy that was lol).

Um Summer doesn’t technically end until late September. Universal said late summer. Lets all just chill on the botch talk.

Yeah I was the one who said botch and I also said ‘if it doesn’t open by the end of September’ so it was quantified with that. Like I’ve said, I firmly believe and hope it will be open by then but it’s fair to highlight it.

If it’s not open when I go on the 21st and 22nd of Sep, can we all agree that this will be botched? Lol

Summer ends September 22nd by technical standards. So we're just entering late summer now lol

Hopefully, it can open by the end of next week, HHN will need that extra piece of capacity this year.

Interested to see if they run the ride to 2AM or an early closure like Transformers/Gringotts.

It will not be horror nights without a nighttime run through mummy after a few duffs. Fingers crossed, losing hope.

Kids are back in school for the most part so Summer is over. uni has HHN so it is not as bad as a seasonal park not hitting their summer goal.

It is good Universal is taking their time and iron out all the creases first. Not only is excessive downtime negative press, but it also means people working the attraction have to deal with more angry people; me personally I can deal with angry guests, it doesn't bother me much and I generally can diffuse things where I don't have to call for a lead to become involved, yet still I obviously too prefer positive guest interactions. When I closed greeter the other day, there was a mother and son there, they had lost their cup, so while queue patrol was looking for it, I just began conversing them as to how their day had been etc. and it was a wonderful conversation. So my point is, when you think of a ride, it is not just the ride, it is the people who work there too, it is not just checking restraints and pushing a dispatch button, as it also involves a lot of customer service.

Meteorological summer ends on August 31st. Astrological summer ends on September 21st.

So I think any range from mid-August through mid-September is plausibly "late" summer.
