Pickup shoots are happening for Avatar 3. They have some more shoots in June and then it's just VFX.

Disney must be frothing at the mouth hearing that Cameron wants this franchise to continue essentially forever.

I liked THE WAY OF WATER quite a bit, and am looking forward to seeing 3... but I really wish we'd get to see Cameron direct something non-AVATAR again before his career is over.

I think he'll end up retiring after Avatar 5, but I agree. Having binged most of his filmography lately, I would love to see him do one last R-rated movie, but I do think TWOW has a lot of the emotional maturity in it's themes and story that T2 and The Abyss have.

It's the movie(s) that never end...
James Cameron Denies 9-Hour Avatar 3 Cut: ‘I Would Put a Shotgun in My Mouth'

So basically 3, 4 & 5 film content. Guess it'll make it easier to get 4 & 5 done.

No. Avatar 3 has been shot. Roughly 25% of Avatar 4 has been shot at the same time as Avatar 3 filming. Because they needed footage of the kids when they were still young. Cameron said he doesn’t plan to go back into film the remainder of Avatar 4 until 2026 at which 4 & 5 will be shot back to back.

Aaahhhh, so it's about Avatar Quaritch realizing the horror and evils of what his original and he have done, and having to grapple with that realization and the trauma and grief that come with it. I'm SO down for that!

I think the having to live with what you've done part can be applied to many characters. Jake, Quaritch, Lo'ak, and Spider specifically. In Jake and Quaritch's case, what they've done to each other. for Lo'ak, it's living with letting down Neteyam and the guilt of being the reason he died. Spider due to his conflicted nature of his character.

I can almost see a team up of Jake and Quaritch in this film, putting aside their differences to fight off the Fire tribe together. Or something to that effect.

So if they're doing both Firebenders and Airbenders in this one, what do they do in Avatar 4-7? :lmao:

Hmm, I wonder what happened to the "This time, it's Na'vi vs. Na'vi!" pitch that Cameron had been talking about.

I mean, I guess that could still be part of the movie, but it sure sounds like the climax is going to be another variation of what we saw in the previous two films.

I'm waiting for the bad guys to smart up and arm a rival clan so they can go out and kill the main characters

Then the finale film will be about all the tribes coming together for a huge battle against the one tribe and humans and finally win

Sounds like it's still a plot point but probably not the focus:

While little is known yet of the plot, it has been confirmed that Avatar 3 will introduce a new Na'vi clan in the form of the as-yet-unnamed Ash People. The Ash People make a marked difference from other Na'vi tribes. Rather than living in tune with nature, the Ash People seem to have rejected Eywa and the worship of Pandoran wildlife that links other cultures in their species.

Little is known about the Ash People, but they will be antagonists in Avatar 3 and are led by a queen named Varang.

I had no idea there were 20 different clans (or that many games).

The game that came out in 2023 was pretty good.

I love the various biomes we're getting with each movie.

So which Disney park is going to get the desolate wasteland as their next expansion? :yum
