Enjoy!!!

What we've learned from today:

  • The cheetah pens are near completion and that there's 7 stalls for 14 cheetahs (12 here).
  • Theming will be incredible. We learned that there will be a section called the "Crossroads" where Morocco, Egypt and Edge of Africa meet. Villagers of the Crossroads celebrate the spirit of the Cheetah. Cheetah Hunt's queue will connect this village to the nature of the actual roller coaster attraction through an integrated back story.
  • Cheetah figures at the front will resemble driftwood carvings.
  • Inside the station, there will be a giant 15 foot high Cheetah Rock that will resemble a cheetah. Villager's celebrate this iconic rock because when found - it resembled the shape of a cheetah. Through chiseling and carving they've managed to carve the head of the cheetah into the top of the rock - the bottom remaining in its natural state.
  • Mack Rides is installing their air gate systems on Cheetah Hunt.
  • First launch will now be 38 mph instead of 30.
  • The Second launch will remain at 60 mph - accelerating in under 2 seconds flat.
  • Third launch will now be 50 mph instead of 40.
  • The Canyon Section will include a run-in with a waterfall. Riders will be skimming above 18 inches of water in a serpentine-like fashion. The river will be designed to run at a fast current in the opposite direction of travel to further give the illusion of speed.
  • The use of trenches in the design of the roller coaster is primarily to inhibit certain aspects of the attraction to pedestrians. Cheetah Hunt was specifically designed to interact with non-riders - and the trenches enable the trains to disappear from sight; thus intensifying the experience for spectators.
  • Parabola hill is 60ft. tall.
  • Cheetah Hunt will do a pull through with the front car and ride clearances.
  • Trains arrive next week.
  • Track completion expected by end of next week. 13 pieces remaining to be installed. Installation from this point forward will start on the Windcatcher Tower and finish at the crown of the "skyride hill".
  • May 27th opening date.

Alright here are the photos from today's construction tour. I want to say thank you to BGT's Jill Revelle, Mark Rose, and the rest of the staff for the amazing tour. Most of the key info has already been posted via twitter and the previous post.

Great pics thanks you lucky dog, did you get to keep the hat?
Will the CH track go over the Sky Ride, is that the track they are waiting to place in the last pic so it can top the SR?

I also saw a video from BGTNation that states the following other facts:

  • The current entrance path will be divided into 4 paths: the Skyride entrance, the Skyride exit, the Cheetah Hunt entrance, and the Cheetah Hunt quick queue.
  • As you come down the stairs, you'll be able to see the monitors of your ride experience. You can purchase either a photo or video of your ride.
  • The gift shop will also have accessories, and cheetah-themed gifts.
Scroll down to the bottom.

Yes it will.

Thanks, no we were not allowed to keep the hard hats and the final piece of track that will be installed is the one section directly over the skyride.

A few notes about the trains,

-5 trains carrying 16 passengers each
-2 trains will load simultaneously like Sheikra
-Train depot can hold up to 6 trains but BGT only ordered 5
-Block brakes are set up to carry a maximum 1400 PPH, but expectations are 1200-1400 PPH.
-Trains will resemble those on Maverick at Cedar Point but will have a zero car themed to a Cheetah and additional themeing all down the side
-Cheetah Hunt will use the new soft OTSR's like I305 installed midway through last season.
-The zero car was originally mocked up using styrofoam
-There are 3 control booths for this coaster.

Is it me or do the cheetah pens look a lot like rooms at the pound... This makes me worry if they're giving the animals enough space.

^^^I agree, the space seems small taking into account that there are supposed to be 10+ cheetahs in there....... They deleted my last post. What a joke

A few pics from yesterday, nothing special as I didn't make it over to The Crown Colony.

It was interesting to hear all the people talking about CH, I was taking some pics around Rhino Rally and talked to one of Joan Jett's crew about it.

glad we finally have a release date. Cant wait to read ride reports, and see this thing in action. Going to try and go in November.

From Mike T at RCPro Community:

It looks like they've begun detailing work on the final trench. Rumor has it that there will be some sort of 'water spillover' involved as your train ascends towards the brake run. Should make for an awesome finale.
