The movie has re-released for the 15th anniversary (which was actually in February this year) and the theaters have been PACKED. This movie is going to make more money this weekend than DM4. Like the IP is a real cultural zeitgeist at this point. It sells a frick ton of merch as well.

And it got me thinking, could a Coraline haunted house dark ride pull in crowds equivalent to the other (much bigger) IP within the park. Like a dedicated spooky attraction that's themed to a family IP that everyone loves (that isn't Forbbiden Journey, lol. This would be a very classic dark ride).

I don't know, just food for thought.

I would love to see a spooky Henry Selick dark ride at some point, whether that be a year-round Nightmare Before Christmas ride at a Disney park or something like this. The style is timeless and would be really interesting to see adapted into the medium of themed attractions, animatronics, etc.

In all likelihood though, Universal has too many uber-profitable family friendly IP between Illumination, Dreamworks, Nintendo, etc for them to throw a bone to a 15 year old film that didn't spawn a franchise imo. None of that is a knock against Coraline as a film, but it just wouldn't push the needle enough to justify the expense to the suits. Horror Nights representation might be all we could ever expect.
