Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem (USF)

I don't want to sound like such a downer, but am I the only one not excited for this ride? I saw the movie, and while it had some laughs, I don't feel it's worthy of it's own theme park ride. Yes I know this movie has a sequel coming out(and possible third), and the fact that this is a Universal franchise. But I still question the longevity of this franchise. Of couse with all that said, I guess it can't be any worse than that abomination known as Jimmy Neutron!

^If it's worth anything, I agree. I didn't even think the movie was very good. I can't say that I'm excited about this new attraction but then I'm not...disgruntled at all about it being added. It's just whatever. I'm sure they have created a great attraction though.

^I think the ride itself will be OK. I just question how long before Despicable Me is replaced with another hot-at-the-moment trend? That seems to be Universal's thinking these days.

Just the fact that it's a new experience is good and exciting. I don't think I'm going to be hitting this attraction every time I go to Universal, but that's just because I'm more into thrill rides. But I'm still eager to see this, and who knows, it might end up being really fun and funny and I might really like it :shrug: :thumbs:

I really hope this opens from memorial weekend we arrive in orlando on the 28th May and leave on the 18th June. Our last two weeks is at UOR so fingers crossed it will be open!!

I just hope we get something more than Jimmy Neutron 2.0, (with minions instead of Nicktoons). I'm not sure how they are going to really make it that much different really... more effects? smell effects, air effects, water effects...fog. Didn't Neutron have fog and water?

I agree. I don't know if it will be vastly different but we can figure it will be an improvement experience and detail wise. The budget and time is already more than what was given to Neutron as a quick fix the last time this attraction had a redo. I think things like adding a better post show and an enhanced pre-show theming and story element was a great start. Hopefully the main theater has gotten a lot of love.

Methinks this new metal structure is going to resemble this shot:

It seems as though it will be Gru's home by itself, as there is no construction resembling any of the other houses flanking it in the shot.

Hmm. Hadn't thought of that. I suppose it's a pretty good possibility that the structure would be Gru's home, since we are entering rooms within his home as shown in the concept art. :thumbs:

Lol! True, though it is Universal Studios after all, so I guess it's justifiable... Maybe they can paint on there some of the stolen monuments, the same way they had Nicktoons characters before?

Nah, I would definitely do well without those murals. Eugh, lol. I think that the backstory revolves around Gru stealing the soundstage, preparing it, replacing it, and then installing his home there to make his venture for acquiring more minions (i.e. us) a reality. Hilarity ensues?

Also, I think it would look cool if the soundstage was decorated along the base to make it truly seem as if Gru took it with him and planted it back.

I can only wish the storyline involves gru stealing a soundstage. But I doubt it.
