I felt that Gaston was not really ripping off three broomsticks as heavily as people are making it out to be. Being in booth broomsticks has a more dirty inn feel while gaston has a lodge feeling. Yes they both have antlers, but Gaston's been using antlers in all of his decorating for years. As for it being small, this is a compliment to be our guest for crowded days but we don't have BoG yet. Gaston has one food item and most everything else is meant to be grab and go.

Don't Broomsticks and Gaston's come from the same style of building? If anything this looks pretty similar to the tavern from the movie.. Why does it have to be a rip off just because the buildings are similar? I think some people are just trying to find a reason to hate this without even realizing it.

I don't hate it, and as my review pointed out Gastons was my ONLY let down. I hated the Brew and felt the interior of Gastons was very similar to Potter just not as grand. People naturally compare things to the best that's offered. It just so happens Potter is the best themed land we've seen.

The FLE was never intended to be a Potter Swatter. It wasn't even designed to increase attendance at the MK. That said, there are definitely Potter influences. From Beast's Castle entrance to La Frou's Brew, Potter has had an effect.

And I understand most peoples frustration with this expansion. This is the first major addition that any of us has gotten at the MK in 20 freakin' years and they choose to serve an extremely narrow demo of little girls and Grandmas. By choosing to serve only this small demo, everyone else will continue to be ignored for God only knows how many more years.

Now let me say that I don't care what Disney builds, but they seem absolutely intent on me spending my entertainment dollars elsewhere.

I wouldn't call families and kids a "narrow" demo, more like Disney's LARGEST demo. It makes perfect sense why they would expand Fantasyland with more rides for younger kids...lets not go down this road again..

Maybe if it was more subtle like being a background character in something else like a easter egg that you would have to look for, but his portrait in Bonjour! Village Gifts is so huge and centered that it's practically a major part of the store's interior design.

The Demo isn't Families with kids. The demo is little girls. Face it, it's Princessland.

I'm not saying everyone necessarily hates it, and I think it's perfectly fine to compare things to one another, without comparisons there wouldn't be any reason to improve, but when people say that Disney copied Universal, it just seems bitter. And I'm not calling anyone out, or talking about any one person. Just my 2 cents though.

But Disney did copy Universal. Simple fact. You don't think that Disney would have come up with a soft beverage with added foam on top all by themselves do you?

Exactly. I really do not see how anyone would/could dispute this. Some of the other things could be chalked up to mere coincidence, but the drink, no.

you are only considering one part of the expansion. I am referring to the whole expansion. Storybook Circus is aimed at both young girls and boys. The new mine coaster will aimed at both as well

Also, there are plenty of young boys that like Beauty and the Beast, as well as Little Mermaid. They are not "girls only" films.

Ehhh...they kind of are. Sorry, Little Mermaid is a girls film. Beauty and the Beast is definitely geared more towards girls, but it may attract some boys as well. The demographic however, is little girls like Disneyhead said.

I will agree with your point about the entire expansion. Storybook Circus and the mine coaster are both aimed at both.

These are irrelevant points though because this expansion is still geared towards children, and not families.

To play Devil's Advocate, Disney pioneered plenty in the industry that Universal copied, and to have Disney copying Universal should show that things have changed dramatically.

I don't think this is a bad thing necessarily, it shows Disney has basically given up trying to innovate.

I am pretty sure when I was a child in the 90's, I watched all the Disney films several times. They are not "girl" only. Kids love Disney films overall. While I didnt want to stand in line to meet Ariel, I liked the little mermaid.

I watched it too...too many times to even begin counting. But like you say, you don't wait in line to meet Ariel, so why would you wait in line to ride the ride? Same kind of principle...

At the end of the day, they're princess movies though, which aims at the little girl demographic.

Screamscape has posted some details on The Seven Dwarves Mine Train
http://screamscape.com/html/wdw_-_magic_kingdom.htm#DwarvesCoaster
Screamscape has compiled a layout drawing for the Seven Dwarves coaster, and I’ve put it down as a two dimensional overlay over a recent aerial photo of the construction site borrowed with permission from DizFanatic, with special thanks to photographer Scott Keating.
As for the coaster specs, we know about how the themed ore cars will swing side to side, and I believe we can expect to see up to three 5-car trains used on the coaster, with each car holding four riders, so 20 riders per train. It also appears as if the majority of the dark ride scenes will take place in the building leading to and up the second lift hill. The top of this second lift hill is the piece of track we’ve been seeing poking out from the tallest section of the existing structure already in place.

There are also some photos of the track, which are not new but i haven't seen them posted

Maybe they're hitting the kid demo here because they plan to hit the older demos elsewhere in the hear future.

I don't buy that the little mermaid and dwarfs ride is for girls anymore than someone telling me Pirates of the Caribbean or Jungle Cruise is for boys.

Demos are weird like that though. Girls will excitedly line up for Pirates. Boys aren't jumping up and down to visit Ariel.

I used to love the Snow White ride as a child though (not so much as an adult). Mermaid came out when I was three and I liked it (it gave us something to play in my granny's pool). Granted I didn't like it for Ariel (Scuttle and Chef Louie mostly) so I wouldn't have wanted to wait in line to meet her, but I would definitely have been down as a kid riding the mermaid ride and enjoyed it. With the queue like it is, the circus area with Barnstormer, the Dwarfs coaster, and Gaston's, I think boys will be just fine.
