Had to come on to see what my IU friends thought now that the news is official. With the inclusion of a fully outdoor rollercoaster, I think this will be a decided shift on the overall vision of the park and the type of guests they're targeting. I'm happy the majority of you seem thrilled for it. Sadly, I can't join you knowing what we had to lose to get it. I'm old school, so my vision for the park (and I mean USH specifically, as opposed to Orlando, Disney, or anything else) is that old behind-the-scenes movie-making vibe. I think the peak of that style hit in the early 2000's, and ever since then we've seen a shift toward a more thrill-based theme park. Most notably Backdraft and Special Effects Stages (Cinemagic) were replaced with Transformers, and now Animal Actors and the Special Effects Stage (a watered-down version of its former self) being replaced with Fast and Furious. Not to mention the soundstages that were replaced to make way for Super Nintendo World. So as exciting as all the attention Universal is putting into its parks is, I'm sad that it's losing its originality, what made it unique compared to other theme parks. I completely understand that this old-school version of the park wouldn't make nearly as much money, but as a long-time fan of the past I feel my time is up, and a new generation of the park is starting. Regardless, I'm happy you guys are enjoying the news. I do think this will mark a new era in the park's history.
