After Stardust Racers, I really thought the BTTF dream was dead. Very pleasantly surprised to hear these rumors!

I think BTTF is evergreen and always has a place in the parks. I do agree that a reskin of F&F is a definite Monkey's Paw situation, especially as Great Britain looks to possibly be getting that Delorean Coaster I always dreamed of.

However! Kong at IoA is F&F at it's core, yet ends up superior in a number of ways. The ride system is not an immediate and ultimate death sentence to a new fun BTTF ride. A proper refresh, with an updated queue, some added practical sets and show scenes, and a finale equivalent to the big Kong head would make the ride substantially better than what we have now.

Finally, justice for the 8 remaining Body Wars enjoyers!

I do wonder how big of a factor this is nowadays though. How far are we into this era where both cable and physical media aren't as ubiquitous, and how many kids have grown up without them now?

Back to the Future isn't currently available on any streaming service in the US. Another case of Peacock abysmally dropping the ball. Why that, Jaws, E.T., all of the UCM movies, and the Dreamworks / Illuminations lineup aren't consistently available is baffling.

According to me, looking at what Universal chooses to offer in their merchandise lines.

Simple logic alone covers Bourne and MIB, as there's very little branded merch offered for either. You can't sell what you don't offer.

From there, do you really think branded "Race Through New York" and F&F merchandise sells better than BTTF stuff? I very much doubt it.

Universal would not keep devoting shelf space in multiple venues across USF and CityWalk if the retro properties didn't move merch. They'd be perfectly happy giving that square footage over to more Minions stuff if the classic stuff wasn't selling.

I never thought about that, merch sales is what answers my question more than the musical.
makes the most sense,

it's interesting because it makes me wonder what else sells well, what other properties, ( what other property possibilities)
plus maybe the BTTF part of the parade is one the most liked parts.
it also makes me wonder what sells the most during Christmas or Halloween or other holidays

In my dreams: a show building for a new Back to the Future coaster. Other dream: turn it into a one show only Backdraft attraction (i.e. burn it to the ground).

The musical is garbage. It sells tickets but it’s already closed on Broadway. It’s not going to the have the longevity you want.

I guess I'm crazy, but I saw it in San Francisco in February and "garbage" feels like hyperbole. I was at the Orpheum theater, it was packed, and everyone was applauding, cheering, and laughing from beginning to end -- the DeLorean's first appearance in the show, appearing out of utter blackness, was awesome, and the second half was much more finely tuned than the first half; when the DeLorean started "flying" at the end, everyone went nuts, for example.

A few songs definitely could've been cut (George's, Doc Brown's dreamers song, and Biff's, IMO) but I guess this is definitely one of those things where people have to just experience it for themselves or not, where one person calling it "garbage" can be countered by someone like me saying it was a fun time out. So for anyone reading through this thread, I'd just say, if you have the chance to see it, give it a shot rather than taking any one person's word for it -- if I'd seen this thread crapping all over it and decided to not see it, I would've missed out on a fun time celebrating a movie I love with people I care about surrounded by strangers who were also very much into the show.

I wonder if this is being developed in conjunction with a new Tram Tour finale. If that's the case, I think the likelihood that they keep some elements of Supercharged grows.

Maybe then USF and USH basically share the same attraction, while USF and USGB share certain thematic elements from the queue and land, but not the same ride.

I mean, Doc slapping a Flux capacitor on a tram/bus is a plausible storyline. Doc's time tourism company. That'll bring em in Marty!

I think you can have a perfectly good time at a mediocre show. I saw at the Winter Garden and quickly realized it wasn't going to be any good, but I still appreciated several of the better numbers, several of the performances, and the admittedly excellent in-theater effects. With that said (and I'll grant you this is anecdotal), I think it's telling that my dad - who sees about one-to-two Broadway shows a year and loves Back to the Future - still makes jokes to me about how bad he felt it was.

Perhaps! It is weird BTTF isn’t on streaming, unless they’re waiting for the 40th.

(I too did not care for the musical)

and speaking of beloved older classics and musicals and merch sales at the parks,
would they be able to bring Beetlejuice as a ride or movie ride in this area?
the sequel had a train in the underworld and the fast and furious ride system would benefit a Beetlejuice ride?

I won’t stand for BTTF:TM slander. Perfect translation from film to stage. Amazing effects, consistent fun energy that never stops going, arguably makes certain iconic scenes even funnier… the songs aren’t Tony-winners, but they’re pretty catchy and are never boring with the exception of one or two that run on a little too long.

…Anyway, I hope they step up their game with the actual Hill Valley land. There’s an absurd amount of potential and IMO they hardly scratched the surface with the original land.

Do we think that whatever Hollywood replaces their F&F tram segment with, that's ultimately what will replace our F&F at USF? and it would just be a simple retheme

Based on where things stand at this very early rumor stage, it doesn't sound like these would be the same.

If we get a cool musion effect, a fun 88 MPH scene, a 360 scene, and a physical scene with the Delorean and an AA of Doc Brown at the end, I think people will be happy.

The music is barely a step up from the SNL Star Wars lounge singer joke. It’s a bad show, BTTF fans just can’t accept it.

As a huge BTTF fan, it was great to see an adaptation on Broadway and Roger Bart was an awesome Doc.

But as a Broadway fan it was kinda slop LOL
