Just saw some pictures, surprised that the queue looks exactly the same. Never would have thought there was room for not only a full scale pre show room but an entire theater (which is said to be smaller).

Yeah I remember somewhere reading that the second one is smaller. But other than special events, it is rarely used. Maybe during the slowest of times they may use it or if one day it miraculously becomes a 60 minute wait.

Wow what a shock! I have been going on this ride since it first opened and this is the first I'm hearing of this. I mean I saw that entrance back there a couple years ago but never put two and two together. After all these years I was never once directed into that theater. They must use it when the park reaches really high capacity. I'm truly shocked. Anyone ever been in it?

I've been in it quite a few times. It's used regularly, but like Frenzy, I am unsure how they choose to regulate it. However, I am aware that one of the two better serves the needs of handicapped guests better than the other. I am unsure which.

When Shrek first opened there was only one theater open. Wait times were out of control and express was distributed by 10am everyday. It was crazy. The second theater didn't open until the following year due to high demand.

Yep. And part of why it took so long to open that second theater (which took longer to construct than the time between Hitchcock's closing and Shrek's opening) was that they had to destroy what was left of Hithcock - supposedly the entirety of the Psycho theater and some of the exhibits. All mothballed. Why they didn't convert that into its own independent attraction accessed from the rear - like in that picture - is beyond me.

Well, if they ever decide they don't want it to be a Production Central attraction anymore, they can build one hell of an entrance for a new ride from that alternate Hollywood side.

And since they do have two entrances/auditoriums, they could bring in a new attraction without an extended down period. Just half capacity. Which for Shrek wouldnt be that bad. The problem with this suggestion is the new attraction would also be half capacity.

I was watching the show about a month ago and something went wrong so the cast members had everyone stand up and they moved us to the second theater, so I know sometimes it is used as a backup as well

Until this thread I wasn't even aware there was a second auditorium... I guess it would be good for mishaps and such with the first one, but a second auditorium takes up more space than really necessary. I wish they would make it a different ride or something...

This also happened to me. Some guy stood up for a second and then the picture went blank. I was in the theater with only a couple of other people. We were escorted through one of the exits to the other theater. Were you in the park an hour early too or there at the regular time?

I was there at a regular time; the theater was nearly full actually. I also agree it has to do with someone standing up, since there was a kid who stood up before the screen went off in my theater as well.
