Well, yeah most are having troubles believing that this will actually come to be, I guess if you're not reading the thread you won't see all the poo-poo-ing regarding the rumors (as you are one of the sources), so nevermind then.

Any idea what level of the Disney idea/planning process this is in at this time? Discussion phase, legal review, greenlit, etc. Has Disney legal offered an opinion?

My thoughts on this: Do I think it will happen? Everything I've read points to no but anything is possible I guess. Would I like to see it? Hell yes!

Because like DHS, Epcot lost it's identity so so long ago

At least it seems they might make an attempt at Edutainment with GotG

It seems like Disney can't build original rides any more and the one place that needs it probably more than any where else in WDW, is EPCOT. World Showcase is fair game as far as I'm cornered but Future World should be based in the real world and use inspiration from that. If Disney can't do that and the choice is to put in an out of place IP in there or let the place become dilapidated, I choose the IP.

It bothers me when people claim that some of our best people with insider info are called out for being inaccurate when Disney's own projects get green-lit one day and red-lit sometime later...that doesn't mean they're sending wrong info, that means something else happened internally after.

Unless your Bob Iger or head of WDI, everything is speculation until opened officially IMO

So true. The more the information is inside the more it can change.

Because they have other higher priority plans for DHS.

Epcot is a victim of having a really great new property (i.e. Frozen) just miss the mark on the big spending package on the park it should have gone into (i.e. New Fantasyland).

IP is in and unfortunately very little IP truly gels with EPCOT Center.

Thus we are left with GoTG.

At least the rumour is it's mostly a complete rebuild, an E-ticket and replacing something that needed to be removed 10+ years ago. I'll take execution over thematic perfection... IF they are forcing me to choose.

Maybe this totally falls apart too, but I'm pretty convinced GoTG is coming to WDW somewhere in a substantial way. There is too much chatter on this for it to 100% be false.

I'm not going to divulge the specifics, but one time - we had 3 different sources say a specific attraction was coming to USF by 2016. Needless to say.... it didn't happen, nor is it going to be happening.

Darn, I wish you would divulge. I never knew anything about such a project. Was it part of the supposed negotiations between Universal, Disney and Marvel?

Oh, no. Completely unrelated to anything Marvel or Disney/Uni.

I agree, I would rather something new and they just re-do that whole part of Epcot.

I think Disney and Universal realize the big money is in Merch and that they get more money for rides that are tied to IPs. I said this before, but HP changed everything. Both parks are now going to do IP rides instead of original rides. I don't think it is that Disney can't make an original ride, I think it is they don't WANT to make an original ride. They get more money out of rides with IPs and they get bigger boast in attendance. I can't blame either company for taking advantage of this new way of doing things. The more successful these projects are when it comes to Merch the more rides we will get. If WDW sees an increase in attendance and spending increases for a ride they are going to want to do that more often.

I personally don't care if the original theme of Epcot goes away. I want the World Showcase, The land, and the Sea to stay. But everything else is just a shell of its former self. Disney won't make enough money off of opening a non-IP themed attraction based on science and so if they try to do that and it fails, Epcot sits another 10 years the way it is today. I would much rather an IP used, it be a success and more of Epcot is fixed. Just like if Frozen success means more rides for the countries even if an IP is involved, I am all for that.

Again, I don't think GoTG will be coming to any part of Disney, but replacing Energy with an IP, I am all for that if it means a brand new attraction.

I can't agree more, I think we'll look back at HP and see it being the beginning of a new golden era in Orlando.

From a purely creative point, I think using an IP is a much easier way to make a ride. Instead of having to create a story and characters, they're just continuing an already developed story and one they know is a success. The risk with creating something completely original is that it's time consuming and has a higher risk of being a failure. Looking at ROL, I can see Disney's confidence being slightly shattered.

As I've said on magic if they announced that B&tB ride for France I'd just grin and bear it at this point. There's really no way we'll win here anymore.
