Well I could've done without THAT reminder of how long ago THE RING was released.

But don't forget they DID release the sequel "RINGS" in 2017, 8 years ago yesterday (Feb 3rd). The sequel brought it into the modern age of sharing content digitally so it didn't stay restricted to the videotape.

You joke, but it probably would be effectively scary. Ugh. I hate that I can actually envision this. I'm thinking 2016 Exorcist, but The Ring. Replace the bedrooms with different deaths/visuals. Yep. It'd work

You forgot 2017's Blumhouse 1.0 (Sinister). That screen scare in Sinister was diabolical. So naturally they had to replicate it for 2018 houses (monsters, poltergeist, & Unfriended).

i don't like this any more than anyone else, but it's worth remembering that 2003 was 22 human years ago.

Please don't ever say this again.

Anyway in basic agreement with everyone that The Ring is pretty thin for a whole house if you're only talking about the first one. You can wring maybe two or three rooms from the intro, a room in that sweet artist loft at the end that probably cost like $500 a month in 2003, then the cabin with the well, then maybe a Brian Cox room on the island, and then you have to start getting reaaaaaally creative if you want even a short house. There's only so many Samaras and weird screwed-up photo faces you can do. You'd necessarily be setting much of the house in the video.

I do think it can be done, though, and I do think it has staying power (Rings actually did decent business despite being terrible). It's just that the movie suffers from Close Encounters syndrome where it's this hugely iconic film where most of what it's known for is like, two or three scenes at the beginning and end.

I'm not saying it couldn't work I just think it would be too similar to Exorcist. I'm not against the idea either btw. Maybe in the next 5-7 years when they inevitably make another Ring movie they can have it at hhn

I'm still waiting for them to do The Thing again... it's a Universal owned movie why haven't we gotten a house based on the original film yet? It's so weird

Murdy has stated in the past he wants to do it, but it'd be costly due to all the puppetry & whatnot. ......well.. after AQP & other recent houses, I'd say he has no excuse NOT to do it.

Well now they can reuse those puppets and AAs from Quiet Place. I’m sure they still have the ones from Chucky, so they could reuse those assets for an Exterminatorz house (Which I would love to see!)

I honestly feel like Hollywood has the strength to convert past SZs into houses & Terror Tram. Not all, but most.

Exterminatorz needs a house
Holidayz needs a Terror Tram
Latin American Terror Tram (it's had houses, SZs & plaza!)

So yea, I'd like to see more of this evolution for Hollywood originals.

And as I've said before, while Parisian is still a house location, if they ever discontinue Latin American monsters, whatever takes over MUST have a SZ & Plaza tied into it. The mini cohesion is great.

There's quite a few past scarezones that'd make great original houses.. Urban Inferno, Hell's Harvest, Fallen Angelz, All Hallow's Evil, Hell-O-Ween, Toyz..

Also some of those could/would be combined due to their similarities in theme.

I'm more curious about what original content Hollywood has in store this year than I am IPs.

I do wonder if FanFest could get us access to the ChainsawMan attraction film from Japan for DreamWorks. Maybe up the scares for D&D to keep it for HHN? Star Trek Borg house?

My irrational hope was always that the Chucky animatronics and puppets would give way to Gremlins. I know, Warner Brothers, but maybe there's an Amblin angle?

We had Evil Dead Rise not too long ago, WB is pushing Gremlins, it's not impossible imo.
