I find it funny that yall are saying Poltergeist is unbelievable when it’s the only property mentioned that’s actually been at the event before…

To add even more fuel to the fire, I’m sure they’re looking for that paranormal IP in succession to Insidious being HoTY and this would likely be Hollywood’s exclusive IP. Historically post-Covid, Hollywood has always liked to have an exclusive be a repeat or returning IP. Evil Dead Rise is the exception but that’s simply because it was built upon an already built house.

So yeah, Poltergeist isn’t my first choice, but I can totally see it happen. If they can’t get the Conjuring to fulfill that paranormal spot, I guess that’s the best they can do.

Poltergeist hasn’t been at HHN since 2018 so I would be down for it to come back. I would prefer it to be based on a sequel.

I think I heard Murdy say and one point that there were actually two different versions of that house planned back in 2018. There was Murdy’s version and then there was Chris’ version. I think what we got was Murdy’s version. Maybe they could do Chris’ version. Even better maybe they could out it in a sound stage!

I just don't believe the Poltergeist rumor tbh. It's not even really a "rumor". Nobody who's an insider or is in the know has even talked about it and it's only out there I assume because of that ghost symbol on the spec map from Christmas.

I'd deposit if Poltergeist is the IP-exclusive, UBE would be a hell of a good venue to have it in for the sake of the scale of the structure (and the more easy control of lighting and effects).

I can think of a few things. While the film has distribution rights tied with WB in the current light, it does have history through that of the MGM distribution the film originally had. Ontop of that, Amazon and MGM have seemingly been able to work something out to make a new iteration of the series for Prime Video.

Could be possible that alongside Fallout, Murdy decided to see his hand and try to double-dip; to convince WB to allow him to use the original film (With MGM's backing in this case).

Speculative of me I know, but I could see some element of logic with that.

You could say that with any MGM/Amazon IP. Oh we're possibly getting Fallout this year, so I guess that means Killer Klowns is coming back? Oh maybe we'll get a RoboCop house. Ah well we could get Silence of the Lambs that's been rumored for awhile. Wait no, how about Carrie? I mean we did get The Shining in 2017. Actually no. I think we're getting a Terminator house. Source: my imagination. This whole Poltergeist rumor has just been pulled out of nowhere and your reasoning/"speculation" can be applied to any Amazon/MGM horror related ip. It's silly.

I highly doubt this scenario, because Murdy and Co may not have even talked to Amazon/MGM about Fallout, but went straight to Bethesda, just like they worked directly with Naughty Dog for TLOU (and that's if Fallout is even happening, which isn't guaranteed).

I do agree that a paranormal IP is likely coming, but there's nothing to indicate Poltergeist is the frontrunner other than "It’s been here before and the rights might be easy to secure"

If they’re gonna work with MGM, I would rather they do Silence of the Lambs. But knowing Murdy he’s gonna want something he’s already familiar with. Again, that’s assuming these Fallout rumors are true.

I’m gonna be real. I’m still going to go and have a good time, but this year seems lacking on Halloween Horror Nights and leaning more towards Halloween Horror-Lite. Meh.

Who would have ever thought a line-up that is rumored to feature Terrifier would still warrant this take...

I just don't understand all this HHN 2025 is lacking horror because of Fallout thing. Yeah the IP isn't fully a horror one but I've played Fallout 3, New Vegas and Fallout 4. Also watched the TV show. There's plenty of horror in this series. Fallout 3 especially. Scarier than most horror games I've played. The house can definitely be scary and I'm sure it will be if it comes. A lot of the creatures/enemies in this series are terrifying. Also RE: WWE Wyatt Sicks... a lot of you have been so judgy about this particular IP. It's completely horror though. The whole lore of them is awesome and if executed right would be a really scary and cool house. Then you have Terrifier... Definitely not HHN-lite. None of these rumored IPs are lacking in the horror department, they're just IPs a lot of you aren't familiar with so you're putting them down and dismissing this year's event lol. Like come on at least wait a little bit to make up your opinions closer to the event. Makes no sense to me

Tbf if this whole rumored IP lineup is true, Terrifier is probably the only IP keeping the horror in Halloween HORROR Nights.

I’m sure you’ll find a lot of holes in my line of thinking and I’m totally fine with that. That’s just how I feel. I’m sure the houses overall will be pretty good regardless.

I'm pretty skeptical of the idea that we could be getting Poltergeist. While the event experimented with more niche and classic properties in the 2010's, it feels like they've been more particular with the IPs they've chosen in recent years.

If it's not an evergreen A-list horror property, a relevant franchise with a recent release, or an in-house IP that Universal wants to promote, I feel like its chances of appearing are very diminished. While Poltergeist is a beloved movie, I don't think it has a strong enough draw for the event for them to utilize it again.

Dude. Come on. Really? That's such a reach. When you go through all the houses and truly feel that way after then fine. But it's only spec season right now. Y'all are overreacting big time

I agree. If some tough guy got mad at me for accidentally bumping into him in line for an house and wanted to wrestle me, I would find that scary too.
