While I'm not going to agree with uoleaker's hyperbole, the apologist attitude around here definitely does not help HHN's continually declining situation. I've been saying that for ages.

What exactly is declining? It's reaching new highs in popularity every year. I doubt Universal is worried a few "die hards" who miss the good 'ol days are not happy.

If you want to honestly tell me house, zone, and experience quality have been constant or better since 2011 or so, well...

Increased crowds due to Walking Dead does not make for a better event. The quality has gone down, budgets have been stretched thin, and expansions to accommodate growing attendance haven't happened.

I find it sad we all sit on the forum and speculate some one from Youtube. Does anyone else miss the days of have the big sites that would keep us busy. I am more hyped for the release of Call Of Duty then Halloween Horror Nights. I have never missed a year and it is just not doing it for me anymore. With more and more fans saying its the same event with a different name Universal is losing the fans and the event will eventually end then art & design can point the finger at Marketing. If this years event is not better than past years I will not renew my annual pass and will part ways with Universal. I am tired of giving Universal 10K a year in passes HHN tickets and food. This is what marketing is doing to our event. :horse:

it is all thanks to Hollywood... everything was great before the big merger of 2012... 2011 was the true great last year (both zones and houses) we have had some really amazing houses in the past 3 years but the quality of the whole event is nt the same. specially the streets, they keep messing them up.

The same event every year? Everything, literally everything is changed EVERY year. HHN, even at it's worst is the best event in the theme park industry and worth it's weight in gold. Universal is gaining fans by what it's doing and 24 was one of the best years of all time. Y'all are crazy to give it up like forreal. Also 10K? Dude whatever your job is I want it lol

the houses might be very different visually but as far as scares go not a lot has hanged in years, maybe a decade. Besides the awesome animatronics they have done for a couple of houses recently, scare wise not a lot has changed. other haunts have been innovating with new technology or new types of scares but universal is still far behind. Dead End was one of the few recent houses to get creative with some of the scares
HHN houses are starting to become like museums, look at Dracula, any time i heard good things about that house it was because of the sets or costumes,
I think they were actually more creative with the scares in the past.

Universal has the design element down for HHN BUT they dont need to get the scares back into the event.. HOS is slowly catching up to them in terms of details but HOS does have the scares down.

UO needs to put money into the event and not do it every so often.. The AWIL puppets were amazing because we NEVER seen them before. I've seen haunts do stuff at there events that make my jaw drop and I wish UO would do it.

Agreed. This is the #1 issue by far with HHN. Universal does seem to recognize that, but can't seem to come up with an effective countermeasure.

And this is where you lose me. The best houses the past two years are easily two of the best in the past decade. But more importantly, even the worst houses usually have at least some redeeming quality. Early 00s, for every good house there were always at least two stinkers. Now, even an HHN failure like Dracula Untold, there is still a level of detail and design that puts it over at least half the 00-era houses. We just don't get a thrown-together Fear Factor or a Cold Blind Terror anymore.

I agree, I stopped attending because they overused TWD and crowds didn't make it any better. There's no doubt crowds have increased. I went last year because why not, I like The Purge and AVP, Halloween came back. I'm hoping they go big from HHN 25. But I agree that quality has gone down as well.

The only problems I really see with current HHN vs the past is the overcrowding (nothing can be done other than increasing capacity) and the change to the streets and scarezones. I still prefer the old way of having scareactors everywhere along with scarezones mixed in as it helped you stay on edge.

The detail in the houses is FAR from below years past, in fact it's better. Name one house from 24 that you can honestly say pales in comparison to something in the past. Scares are lacking but then again maybe that's just you. I've been going since 2008 and I'll still piss my pants over crap like the headless pilgrim or the post house Myers. Saying scares are stale is all based on personal experience, you might be able to go through dollhouse with no problems but if your mom went through it she'd probably have a heart attack. You are getting 8 brand new attractions, shows and street experiences for one month at a great price every single year. That is more attractions than DHS.....yearly. Why anybody is complaining about this period is beyond me

if that's the case then why even hide actors in boo holes? if the houses are becoming more like museums then what's the point of adding boo holes everywhere, just have the actors be out in the open and interact with the people. make it an experience where the actors not just jump out but work with the public. i would like that.

is not even about not being scared, it is about how predictable the scares have become in that aspect. i do think in the past they had different ways to get you. compare that to how predictable the scares were in from dusk or dracula. the sets and the attention to detail might be getting a lot better, but... like i said if thats the point then just get rid of the boo holes. Have the actors talk to you,
I would much rather just be able to fully see their costumes and have them interact with me than coming out of the same kind of holes they have always used.

even some houses are starting to do that, cabin in the woods, resident evil, Alice Cooper, the doll house, AVP, they had actors (and puppets) out in the open, you got to be able to see them and i did like that a lot.
even the ending to From Dusk was better than the cave parts of the house, and you had the actors be out in the open.

There has been a change in the matrix...

That is not a hint, only a metaphor. In a few weeks I may be able to actually hint at it.

"unknown" is hinting at a return of American Werewolf in London and Insidious.

Agree to disagree. Some rooms looked good, others were a joke. Finale was an absolute mess.

Yeah. During HHN 22. They had to scramble last minute because Universal decided to use SS44 for Transformers.

But it was still a fairly well-received house. Pretty sure it made my top 3 for the year once they worked the opening week bugs out.
