Then what's the connection?

Both designs still have similar traits (Black eyes, rows of teeth). The image 365 tweeted shows a bird person with neither.

Touche! I think it's likely just the combo of it being a bird person and Nightingales being rumored (assuming that is what the bird symbol is).

A lot of people assumed the creatures’ name, Nightingale, somehow associates them with the bird. Because of that misconception, and the beakish look of the Blood Pit version, they think “nightingale = bird-lady.” But the connection was Florence Nightingale—the war nurse. The creature is (supposed to be) visually more akin to a banshee than a bird.

I kind of justified the design discrepancy as a matter of where they were adapted to dwell. From the get-go they have had the ability to shape shift, so why not adjust to better suit where the boodshed is. Gladiatorial Nightengales were more akin to carrion birds as combat and bloodshed took place more on open battlefields. For trench warfare, the physiology of a mole or shrew was better suited.

Kind of falls apart when you take into consideration Blood Pit took place mostly in the tunnels underneath the colosseum, but still, lol

I always preferred the Blood Prey Nightingales, particularly how there were multiple stages or devolution. The bird look, while I understand intellectually, never did it for me.

I'm not sure Immortal putting something like that out is necessarily indicative of Hollywood doing something. I'm not saying it couldn't be, but not enough to go on, IMO.

Nightingales: Blood Plague? Nightingales rummaging through corpses on the streets of a gothic European country?

Could be a nice little way to cash in on the gothic hype of Nosferatu as well.

Dark ages, with knights

Yeah I was thinking medieval Europe. Knights in armor-type thing.

Vikings or Renaissance might be fun too.

yes definitely. definitely. there's so many ways it can go. do pirates. could be like in King Arthur, with knights,
you can do anything. nightingales are like The Predator movies basically, shows up during battle, it could be any battle.

They had a picture of the old masks in the initial announcement, which is why I'm not sure I buy the official statement about "evolution." Are we sure that there wasn't a safety issue or something like that?

The old masks would have gone a long way towards Pit's reception. The cast was crazy aggressive.

Yes. It was strictly just a creative choice.

Pretty definitive, IMO. Stranger Things 5 does, however, seem like a very strong contender for HHN 35.

It would be so ironic if the remaining three IPs left would be ones that Fright Fest have (Saw, Conjuring, and Stranger Things).

I for sure thought they were going to make it earlier, but that's overkill.

how so? it starts the exact same weekend as it did last year. i'll be curious to see what they do in 2026 when labor day isn't until sept. 7.

I thought it would start in mid-August. We don't need that much HHN and while it's a cash cow, there is still extra work with staffing and operations.

update: i am tripping. apparently this is the earliest start for hhn ever.

Same amount of weekends, just "technically" starts earlier in the year due to the date the Labor Day weekend falls on.
