Ghastly.

All the thought that went into designing what those pavilions would look like around the water... out the window.

I'm ok with characters and some Disney ties, it makes sense and frankly if it's the sugar that makes the medicine go down I'm all right with it. But it is really shitty that stories written by mostly white Americans with pop songs are supposed to stand in for ACTUAL CULTURE.

Yes, Rat seems out of the way enough to not be an issue

I'm fine with characters in WS as well, as long as they play a backseat role

Yeah... this is inaccurate. Every view should have a view of two fins minimum. No weird one-fin dead zones like you have in China/IG. Center barge has a wider visual range than you give it and is much more central in the lagoon. The angles of the fins are also a ways off.

I should have brought out the red and purple lines a bit more

I was going off the one I've seen placed in the lagoon and speculation

So if they can't sink these things they can run water on them all day?
I can't think what could be worse for electrical screens, hope someone did practical testing for a few years.

I just don't know how they designed a show like this and thought it was ok. I assume what happened was it was meant to be rolled out every night, but once Ops got word that the bridge would have to be up for an hour like @belloq87 said, the plan had to change completely to just leaving them out there all day.

Especially limey Florida water

I assume they have some treatment in the Epcot lagoon, but I'm expecting them to wear very quickly

Also with LED screens, pixels go bad, panels go out, etc....It seems like a nightmare

I just....wow. That picture hurt. A lot.

Just destroyed the picturesque view that is...was, Showcase Lagoon. No one can look at that and say, “it’s not so bad.” Disney execs are going to look at it and say, “I don’t care.”

I'm sorry for this opinion: but whoever thought it was a good idea to have these grotesque barges stay at the middle of the lagoon daily, needs to have a talk.

Horrific, is putting it lightly.

Imagineers have certainly hit their lowest point since the Disneyland Tomorrow land makeover went bad. How will the hardcore Disney fans ever be able to complain about a Universal building
not being themed to the max. Hoping the show will be good isn't sufficient to cover up the all day ugliness, and destruction of once beautiful sightlines, that these barges will present. Its a real world
Water World or Mad Max movie set. Maybe they'll hang, to dry, their dirty laundry on it too.

If I was tasked with designing show equipment to stay in a lagoon without moving I wouldn't design them to be moved daily in and out.

My point is I don’t think the original intention was to leave them out there 24/7/365

Then we can also assume that these were not designed to withstand constant exposure to elements and performance on a continuous basis. Which means they will be maintenance-intensive. During a time when Disney's maintenance track record is spotty.

Tbh, they should've just spent the money to do a version of World of color. It at least would've looked better during the day and would've offered a similar viewing experience.

This whole saga is just painful to catch up on.

Epcot deserves better.

But they can't as it's not a filtered, concrete bottomed water source. Same issue that DAK had.

They could've partitioned off part of the water source from the source that the boats use for transportation. Put a concrete wall up underwater and on the other sider build a WOC-like platform. I'm aware that that would cost a crap ton of money, but this show cost a lot of money too. RoL cost an insane amount of money, ultimately for nothing. Let's stop doing half-measures and go all the way.

The wall would have to extend out of the water about 1-2 feet to make sure unfiltered water doesn’t splash into the filtered water. They’d also have to run pumps to account for rain, which would be complicated by being in the middle of a massive lake.

There is no major body of water in WDW fit for a WoC style platform (unless you count Echo Lake or Fantasmic’s Moat). I don’t know why that is so hard for people to understand after all of these years and being told that multiple times.

Also, World of Color style shows don’t work as a 360 show, really at all.
