I think the next two years they need to stabilize operations and house placements. I'm sure we won't get to keep SS12, and we may possibly lose Mummy in the near future if expansions on the lower lot continue. Simpsons going away may be another factor, but it's oddly out of the way (at least the ride is), but the town getting a makeover can hopefully be done throughout the year it happens not effect HHN too much. Terror Tram is working great as it is right now, it can stay that way for the time being.

Just in general, they need to reclaim that SoCal throne. I feel like the verdict is out everywhere I read that Knotts is the place to be again and while FF & Dark Harbor are around, quality aside, it's giving people simply more options. The excitement for HHN is over. Find their groove again, ride that wave for another 2 years, then think of expanding (Metro lot would be great). I think that's 2028 at the earliest, 2030 more realistically.

I went to knotts, just the atmosphere alone tops anything horror nights. Their new mazes have really cool animatronics.

Yeah I don’t think we will have to worry about “having” to up the house count for the time being. At least I don’t see that being the case for next year. They really need to maintain the quality of the eight we have as is.

I do think the best option for future growth will be to expand to the Metro sets. Have two upstairs (Parisian and Hudson), two downstairs (Sound stages), and then two in Metro. Have a food court in metro and possibly have a small show venue.

I’ve always been a harsh critic against the Tram, but my word, they really made it work this year! I noticed the Terror Tram has consistently gotten better and I think they really nailed the flow and layout this year. Hope they keep up the same dynamic for next year.

Universal could also be designing attractions with HHN in mind, like an extended queue for house space.

One would hope, but in reality, the event most likely doesn't even cross their radar when it comes to park changes & Murdy/team are the last to know

First Wednesday Night

Looking at the crowd calendar from last year, it looks like im in for a good time

I wonder if they will finally start trying to sell more express passes to you in the park tonight
Only see them do it twice and it was early in the event later on the signs were gone, so I assumed they sold out of all express passes even in park

I'll likely be in the same boat, if for no other reason curiosity.
This year has been kinda a wild card crowd wise with thursdays and sundays either being totally dead or considerably busy, so I have no clue what wednesdays are gonna be like.

I’m here

Doesn’t feel light on crowds but we will see

But I waited in the longest line I’ve had to, to pick up my band and been coming at the same time on past visits

Edit: the start is about the sane cried wise but by 9 pm many houses were 15 mins. So really good after the EA time

Unsure quite where to post this--but I am thinking more and more, and reflecting on posts with that of @HydraGen2299 on Discord; and I want to talk about the venues of this year here.

Murdy often talks about location is the first most important thing that comes down to determine the direction of a haunted house--and they are often the sort of things that requires pre-planning ahead of treatments. And as my friend Hydra went into depth over on the likes of Theme Park Stop discord--he thinks we were never intended of getting the houses in H-Lot and Eternal Bloodlines, in SS12.

I will let Hydra's comments reflect on his take, and share mine in the end on this (and thank you Hydra for letting me post this)
This is all without insider info this is my own like evidence compilation

Exhibit A: insidious’s tent randomly being flipped sideways there’s no real reason they would’ve done that except for if it was designed to be in that spot in the lot where krampus was. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
Exhibit B: The fact that they didn’t theme studio scoops to ghostbusters they were probably counting on having a food tent at metro possibly themed to Ivan’s deli like Orlando
Exhibit C: murder of crows the setup they have now is super weird like the crows come out of a weird dressing room disguised as a hedge instead of wandering around the park like the old days. Also the fact that this has more props than skull lordz makes me think murder of crows was planned to be the gauntlet zone in the backlot. There’s a guy in a gilly suit in the zone which is like CLASSIC gauntlet zone
Exhibit D: Dead exposure doesn’t have the expansion outside the tent like every other year has had previously because it would’ve blocked the path to “toxic tunnel”
Exhibit E: No Death eaters this year possibly because they weren’t counting on H-lot being used? Death eaters seem like something that could’ve been added back easily but idk maybe Warner bros needs like time in advance to give permission to use those characters idk just spitballing
Exhibit F: Murdys seventh treatment bloodlines was written before February construction didn’t start in h-lot till April this late construction start may be due to back and forth negotiations about the backlot as things were in a swaying state due to the back up in production caused by the strikes
Exhibit G: when asked about a rumor on twitter about baklot coming back Murdy responded “silly rumors” when he typically just says no.

I think with FFN openly having Courthouse Square--it's time to ask what exactly happened for us to not get Metro (and to subsequently get SS12). The answer as Hydra would reflect on is a good one: as a result of the SAG-Aftra strikes, it wouldn't be out of character that production backload would've taken the priority (ontop of post-pandemic boon).

For how we could've gotten SS12, I think it could be a stroke of dumb luck that boils down to the work that was ongoing with the Creative Campus nearby. That we somehow were able to secure and grab ahold that of the venue safely as there won't be as much major work there going forward (presumably to reduce daytime noise for office space).

Unsure where exactly to put this--and I do intend on bringing this up in 2025 speculation; but I do think there is a potential window to talk about how we could've gotten the Metro sets had the studios of complied as they could've last year early on.

Metro wasn't in serious play. This is all circumstantial, I'm afraid.

It’s fairly evident that eternal bloodlines was never meant to go in a soundstage in my opinion. If it wasn’t meant to go in metro I’d genuinely be shocked. I’m not sure where else it could’ve gone but bloodlines feels like something that’s floor plan and layout was retrofitted after the fact to be in the soundstage much like exorcist in 2021. Also hoping everyone is having a great haunt season! I don’t think I’ve been in here since the event started.

Guys, again, respectfully, you are overthinking this. They probably did not know exactly where Eternal Bloodlines would end up, so they designed for a typical tent structure. Eventually, the soundstage became available, so they plopped the layout in there. Crowz was never designed for Metro. Nothing was designed for Metro.
