Yeah as outdated as it is, I think that's the charm of the theming. It's just so funny lol

I don't think I've ridden this thing in 10 years and I've been at the park every single year this decade. I remember my last ride being so rough, I was meeting some friends afterwards at Hash House A Go Go and had to text them if anyone had Advil or Tylenol for me while on the way. :lmao:

Everyone…well a lot of people I should say, seem to complain a lot about the roughness. While I’m not going to advocate to the ends of the Orlando swamps that this thing was smooth as butter, I don’t think it’s that bad. Maybe part of it is because I’ve been on it enough times to brace for the jarring, but I feel like it’s at the tolerable roughness point to where I can enjoy it.

I’ve been on MUCH rougher coaster that legitimately hurt like Ghostrider before the 2016 retrack and Mean Streak at Cedar Point. To this day, I have not ridden a coaster as awful as Mean Streak. It legit hurt my back for 30 min after riding. Even the Roller Coaster at New York New York at Vegas was right in that line between enjoyable and unpleasant.

But it’s all moot now. I enjoyed it while it was around, but I won’t cry over it leaving…especially since I’m confident whatever will replace it will be MUCH better. I’m just gonna miss the iconic lift hill and the select-your-own-track gimmick. Hey who knows: maybe they’ll bring the music gimmick back for this ride.

I will also miss the stuck-in-2008 feel for the ride. Looking at it reminds me of the glory days of YouTube Poop and Limewire.

There was a world where this ride was properly maintained and the music was updated regularly and seasonally...I will mourn what could've been.

It also depends on where you sat. Being in the first car wasn't too bad but being in the second meant you were subjected to more of the G-forces. There were a couple of times where it felt like you were being yanked through track elements instead of coasting through them.

Not sure if it's good representation of a ride where you have to build up a tolerance to come out feeling okay.

It's such a prominent part of the skyline from outside and inside the park it will be odd when it's gone. I liked watching it from the parking garages or seeing a glimpse of it from the highway. Definitely one of the things I look for when locating the park from afar. Maybe the replacement will have a similar peak like the current lift hill so something will fill in that part of the skyline again.

I'll probably squeeze in a couple of more rides just for old times sake.

you could see it all the way from Cinemark / Dezerland at night when the lights were blinking. yeah you are right. this coaster was very iconic in that sense.
yeah this coaster became such a huge staple of the area.
it almost became like a landmark in the area. when you would be driving towards universal or driving around that area you could see it from so many places,
I always enjoyed seeing it in the distance.

I will actually miss seeing it very much. I will miss seeing it. I didn't even think about it until now,
I will really miss seeing those lights.

There's two types of people.

Ones who call any coaster rough.

And those who have ridden Mean Streak.

This is my contribution to Rockit's demise
Animated GIF

I always used the hidden custom BMG track for this coaster or Daft Punk. Otherwise the selection wasn't great.

Rode Mean Streak once, got absolutely beat to a pulp... as we pull back into the station the ride attendant does the typical Cedar Point "How was it?!?" line and some middle-school aged kid in the back of the train immediately yelled out IT WAS AWFUL

I suspect I'm in the minority who will really miss HRRR but understand it's kinda an eyesore, dated, has issues, etc. I liked it because it feels like it pulls more lateral G's than most coasters - the treble clef is probably the closest thing to taking a decreasing radius turn in a go kart. But the flipside is that it did have a lot more back and forth rattle than most coasters and that can't be good for longevity and maintenance.

As rough as Mean Streak was, my perspective has forever been changed after riding the Six Flags vekoma SLCs. Those things feel like something from the SAW movies

I'm curious to see what kind of response we will get as we near its closure. Usually, the "member berries" kicks in for fans, but I don’t think Rockit will get the same treatment.

As a recap of where we're at with this project.

Confirmed:
HRRR is closing in September
There will be 2 new buildings

Highly probable:
Intamin is the coaster manufacturer.

Probable:
It will be F&F themed
Given the size of the project area, it will be a fast coaster.
The entrance will be in the NY area.

Possible:
Might have similar elements to HRRR to keep the same skyline
Might use the same coaster system as Hollywood Drift

When I rode Mean Streak (as part pf a roller coaster tour me and friends were doing) I realized almost instantly I had made a terrible mistake. I remember thinking "Oh God... I have 3 more minutes of this"
