Has absolutely zero effect on the actual quality of the movie.

And saying that, kinda implies (even if incorrectly) she needed to be a white person. Which is not true.

If you’re saying no, I don’t care about the race just the hair, I can promise you a movie of this size tired and debated/discussed multiple hair styles and colors including blonde and decided that the hair the actress has now in the movie looks and worked best.

Plus the excuse that oh she doenst look “native to area ” does not hold weight ether. The live action version of the movie has chosen to still be a live action cartoon in terms of tone. It’s got the whimsical vibe and design of an animated film. It’s not going for realism.

If the film wa truely a live action movie where they tried to make the film as realistic as possible with a Ridley Scott, Nolan, movie tone. Then sure you can say hey, i want this be and feel more authentic maybe

But this movie is not that. It’s like a Disney live action remake. Its whimsically inspired live action cartoon (not in negative way but tonally)

okay, yikes. Chill out. I just said when I think of Astrid, I think of her yellow hair. I didn't say anything about the quality of the movie.

RFRees said:
Agreed.

Also, what the live action movie does or doesn't do should make zero difference to anyone in this thread, considering the land is based on the animated films.

I didn't say anything about that. People need to chill out lol

Moving on...

The Toothless meet and greet is consistently a long line, often out in the sun/ heat. I'm curious if Universal will take notice and try to make this a better experience. I'd love to see them make this indoors (with AC) and have two rooms with Toothless characters, to speed up the line. They wouldn't even need more Hiccups (just another Toothless), as often Hiccup is replaced by another Viking for the current meet and greet.

Or... better option.. add Astrid & Stormfly as a 2nd photo-op/meet-n-greet..

Honestly, they should've done this like Princess Fairytale Hall at Disneyland, but with dragons lol. Have 3 meet-n-greets in one. Photo-op, move along, photo-op, move along, photo-op, gtfo & ride stuff you nerd

The problem here is that everyone wants to spend 5 minutes with Toothless. So there's three options:
1) No. Reduce the time, turn and burn. Results in a negative experience.
2) You want to meet Toothless? Then you PAY (with your time). Results in a negative experience.
3) More Toothless. Positive experience, costs Universal more.

Edit: to be clear, 5 minutes is probably exaggerating how much time each person is spending. But it's above the 30 second photo turn and burn.

I have no issue with a reduced time meet-n-greet. Reach your hand out, snap photo, pose, snap photo, move along.

I love photo-op characters, but they should be quick when busy days/high demand. Unless you're VIP or its a slow day in 2028, a brief encounter is all you need.

That's you.

On the other hand, I've seen several videos/posts with great things to say about *how much time they spend with each person, making it feel special.*

Yes some want just the photo and get on a ride, but not everyone is like that.

Then I'd recommend NOT going to conventions & buying a photo-op or going to a limited time event at Disney (or USH) filled with photo-ops. Hug/high-5, pose, move along.

You're waiting in line for the photo, not a 5-10min "fan meet". On a busy day, that line is going to be over capacity, having a "dragged out personal one-on-one" for everyone is not going to make guests happy. You can have a special moment & be brief about it. Only special circumstances should the meet-n-greet take longer than.

You see the difference between meeting someone at a convention for a picture, and an attraction at a theme park, right?

I'm not saying there shouldn't be some experiences that are quick turn and burn photo ops. The SNW meet and greets are like this, and honestly it would get awkward if you tried talking with them for longer than 20 seconds.

But for how many people are specifically posting to social media with positive things to say about how long you can spend with Toothless (including the "I was in tears when I got to pet Toothless" I've heard more than once), I don't think the answer is taking this away.

Also, zero people are spending 10 minutes. I'm guessing very few people are spending even 5 minutes. We're taking about the difference between 30 seconds vs 2-4 minutes depending on party size.

Edit
Silly for us to keep talking about hypotheticals. This is what the meeting looks like. Below are some videos I found on people meeting Toothless, from start to finish with no edits during the meeting (mostly).

I'm against cutting this meeting down to 30 seconds.

Recently I saw they were limiting the photos to 2 photos per group or something (listed underneath the wait time).

I don't think this is necessarily a change in process but moreso a change in communication. I think they always limited it to two.

I believe they also only take one device. At the Frankensteins Bride and Monster meet and greet, they refused to take a second phone for pictures. But they did not rush us, and we proceeded to have a full conversation with them before snapping the two photos.

Speaking of, essentially this entire discussion can also apply to the meet and greet at Dark Universe and the Raptor Encounter at IOA. The big difference is Toothless has consistently gotten 60-90 minute wait times, which is the reason I recommend getting a second Toothless.
