That fits in with what I have heard. No Amber Mine! Just pretty much a Junior woodie with some terrain themeing and some AAs. No indoor "show scenes". That means instead of an Amber Mine, the wooden coaster will be themed as.....a wooden coaster. I also believe that at least one of the AAs will be a late model, low mileage Triceratops. The custom flat, I was told, would be a Dino-themed carousel that would act as sort of a center piece for the expansion. The Woodie sort of wraps around the backside of the expansion area as a visual backdrop. They are going full on with the "Theme Park in a Theme Park" concept.

That is the rumor that I was told recently. And also fits in with and can be completed in the "Late 2014" timeframe.

How extremely disappointing, another coaster/coaster type ride. IOA already got 5 coasters, what does it try to be, six flags?
Lets hope King Kong is amazing. Love the flat rides, it's what the Universal parks need but please no more coaster crap.

So, I am guessing something along the lines of GG's splinter concept? http://www.thegravitygroup.com/portfolio_fleet.html (click splinter concept)

It's a family/themed coaster. It is not a Six Flags scream machine.

Plus, IoA has 4 coasters right now.

Are they ever going to update the AAs in JPRA? They really need to. As far as the new plans for the expansion, I'm a bit underwhelmed I suppose. Happy to hear that the woodie may include some dino AAs though (we can never have too many Dinos in JP!)

But does that matter if there is terrain theming and AAs? To me it doesn't, but maybe I'm weird.

Nah, not really. And a good woodie is something that NONE of the big theme parks in town have. And as far as the carousel, I would prefer it over another spinner. Which they also have 2 lands over.

Agreed. A well done and wall maintained (critical) wooden coaster could be a real boon for the park.

Agreed about the spinner, though I'd like something more exotic over both.

The only one name that still keeps coming up on my end is the Gravity Group. A small family oriented terrain hugging coaster creation with rock work, water features, and 2 AA's with custom themed timber liner trains. Also rumored to be a custom flat along with new food and beverage options along with new merch and photo connect options built into Camp Jurassic. Could be that he Trex photo connect is moving into Camp Jurassic.

Time will tell...

This looks A-OK! Love me some woodies!

I, for one, think that this ride would be a perfect addition to Islands of Adventure. IOA needs a coaster that bridges the "kiddie" to the "thrill." This coaster looks like it will do the trick. I would like a dark ride section, but at least they're trying to theme this bad boy.

With rockwork and waterfalls, I'm fine with losing cave scenes, personally.

As for the flat ride, I'm all for adding capacity, though I'd prefer something other than a ride we already have, like a ripoff of Mater's Junkyard Jamboree or something.

agree on all of the above! maters junkyard was a lot of fun when i had the opportunity to visit DCA, maybe even my favorite part of carsland.

Yes, it would be similar to the Splinter, though I've heard a different company is involved than Gravity Group.

Huge bummer at the loss of the amber mine. I was hoping the ride, no matter how big or small would not be presented as a coaster. =(

Considering this is likely JPs last chance to expand unless they rip stuff down I am sad. It should have at least got a ride with indoor scenes.

That Splinter concept has a max speed of 21mph. Yikes. Even BTMRR goes up to 35.

This is what I would guess, as their trademark (to the best of my knowledge) is wooden track on steel supports, which would hold up much better in the humid Florida weather than all-wood (see Gwazi)

I feel like considering the small footprint this thing would have to be squeezed into, 21 mph could seem pretty fast. Yeah, in a car on the highway it's slow, but if they make the curves pretty tight and the drops pretty quick it could pack a real punch!

I don't see the need for another carousel either (although better than a spinner). It's great that Universal is pushing for a more family-friendly vibe but just adding in no-height requirement rides for the sake of it is sort of lazy. Little kids want to do rides, yes, but not the same types of rides over and over again. A company that pushed the envelope with Spidey and FJ should be able to come up with some more originality in their flat rides as well, IMO.

Instead if a carousel they should have a train ride through the island with indoor show scenes.

I welcome JP having a family friendly push for the rides, but thats no reason for minimal themeing, or spinning rides. Push some cool tech, bring JP to life!

That would be fantastic. Or simply areas expertly themed to walk through, see Dinosaurs and feel like an attraction.

That would kind of defeat the point of being a centerpiece to a compact plot of land though. Although scrapping the coaster for a train ride would be great and more welcoming, it would probably require more land which is at a low.

Maybe a carousel in JP now could some day (in the future) open up space in Suess to repurpose the area of its carousel/if I ran the zoo.

Nothing I know anything about, but just throwing out an idea that this could lead to something else at another point in time...
