I did. And I have seen others. My kids were not yet 1 when they experienced almost all the rides in MK with no height restriction. I have seen some pretty young kids on those rides too, so we aren't the only crazy ones. We actually would have taken them on sooner, but with my son's health conditions he couldn't really be out in public places until he was almost one.

BTW, with all the lights and colors in Small world, babies really enjoy that one. Their faces really light up seeing all of that stuff. Pirates not so much, but funny story, my daughter would fall asleep on that one a lot. I guess it was always that time of the day when we rode it because we tend to follow the same pattern. She no longer likes to fall asleep in the parks, but when she did that was a popular one for her to take a nap on :)

On a (kind of) similar note, I used to read the warnings at the bottom of HHN info (you know, "Hey Stupid Parents! This is a freaking scary/gory event and you shouldn't bring in your kids that are under 13! Grow a brain!") and I'd shake my head and think, "Really? People are stupid enough to bring their little kids to this event?" Then I started noticing a disturbing number of parents pushing their 3-to-6-year-old kids in strollers into the events and everything suddenly made sense. I actually asked one set of parents who were pushing a stroller with their approximately 5-year-old twin girls into HHN one night if they thought the event might be a tad frightening for their kids. Their response--from the MOM, no less--was "We (meaning Mom and Dad, NOT the little girls) love HHN and we're not gonna miss it. Our girls will just have to deal with it." Funny, the looks on the twins' faces didn't look like they were all eager to "just deal with it." They were terrified, and they weren't even in the event yet!

My point is if parents are willing to traumatize their little kids with something as scary as HHN, I can totally see them taking their REALLY little kids on family rides with no height restrictions. In the end, so long as the child's safety is ensured, the parents are the ones who are "best educated" as to what their kids can/can't handle. Plus, each kid's maturity level is different, too. I probably wouldn't have an issue taking my infant on It's a Small World...the ride doesn't really do much motion-wise, the music might actually soothe them and as Izzy said, the lights would probably dazzle them. But I can say that my decision would DEFINITELY be based on a ride-by-ride basis and there's NO FREAKING WAY IN HELL I'd take my kids into HHN until they were teens!

I joked about taking my two year old to HHN and my nurse was ready to kill me because she thought I was serious - lol I would never take my child to HHN, but there are many "scary" rides I take her on and she has no problem with them. I have seen kids younger than mine on HM and they have the same reaction mine do...they are curious. They are too young to really understand to be scared. Until recently HM was my daughters favorite ride. She would look around the most in it and still to this day starts dancing in the graveyard scene. She knew when the "scary" parts were in the pre-show and would lay her head against me before the lights went out and then remove her head from me when it was done. Now she doesn't even do that. She loves watching the paintings stretch. Now her favorite ride would be barnstormers, so she is going to be the adventurous one in the family.

But it really is how your child is. My friend's 5 year old was scared to death on HM and I have seen kids crying like crazy on the ride and wonder why parents didn't know there kids would be that scared. If your child is scared of loud noises then rides like HM and Pirates might not be for them. But loud noises don't phase either of my kids. My daughter slept in a pitch black room (black out curtains) in her own crib until she was two and she finally got her own bedroom (instead of sleeping in ours). So darkness and loud noises don't bother her so we know we can take her on pretty much anything. My son is deaf and vision impaired, so if something was going to be scary we can take out his hearing aids and glasses, but honestly, nothing phases him. He prefers the brighter rides (small world) over darker rides because he can see more. But loud noises don't phase him and many times he also sleeps with no lights on. So he doesn't mind darkness, he just prefers the lighter rides because of his vision issues. His favorite ride is tea cups, which honestly if you knew my son, you would not think he would like the tea cups. So I was pretty nervous the first time my husband talked me into that one and here he laughed the entire time.

Dang Uni should do a stop to that. Maybe have some firefighters out front... you can give them your kids and go into the park, the only catch is you don't get your kids back. It is crazy to think that some parents may actually take them up on the offer, but then the kids would probably be better off that way. I don't think it is that unreasonable for them to set an age limit for HHN.

The rides during the rest of the time is a more complex topic. For the most part the parents *should* know what is appropriate for their own kids. I also understand sometimes making a mistake, where they thought the kid would like the ride but it did not end up that way. So it is hard to put an age limit on a ride, where height requirements is not a safety issue. I mean sometimes a kid needs to be convinced onto a ride the parent knows they'll love. So like I said it is so complex IDK.

Would love them to rip off what used to be “Alien Encounter” at MK but with enchanced tech. The ride starts just like in the first film introducing the DNA splicing video then maybe on a “Carousel of Progress” type ride base it rotas to a second scene of a lab with raptor eggs about to hatch again as in the movie all the time with the John Hammond voice over describing the scene. Then there is a bang a big flash of light and were plunged into to darkness and we go into an Alien Encounter type ride with 4d sound of raptors in the building all round us looking for there eggs (which would also tie in to the third film).

They could utilise a lot of the interactive seats that are common in 3d movie rides with hot breath on the back of your neck as the raptors get close, water effects and fowl raptor smells. Whilst this is happening the ride has rotated so we don’t realise to the 3rd and final scene ready for lights up where we see the lab now total devastated and the baby raptor eggs gone and the voice over kicks back in as if nothing has happened “we spared no expense”

All this could be done in a relatively small space and easy to hide and with 3 scenes plus the load station been the 4th quarter of the circle I am guessing that it would have quite a high turnover of guests per hours and would be a relatively easy build and replicate if they need a second stage.

I like the idea. You know kind of similar to an Alien Encounter concept, but not a straight knock off. They could fit that into JP well, and make it a completely new and different experience

Why do family rides always get translated into kiddie rides. Kiddie rides are Dumbo, Barnstormer roller coaster, etc. Kiddie rides are NOT family rides like Thunder Mountain, HM, Pirates, etc. I want family rides in Uni, not Kiddie rides. I do however want some family rides that do not have height requirements.

I thought you meant kiddie rides like Dumbo and others. But yes I do agree Universal needs a couple more family rides. And I believe that's what is coming in the future. Rides from the JP expansion and the Kid Zone refurb in the future will involve family rides. And don't forget Hogwarts Express will probably be a HUGE family ride.

Agreed, HE should be a huge family ride since I don't see how they can put a height restriction on it. The no lap sitting I see as an issue. The whole family wants to go to the other park, but they can't because the one kid can't sit up yet. This probably won't happen as much as I don't see as many babies in Uni as I do in Disney. The good news for me is they have handicapped seating, so I will be able to take my son on it (who is two and can't sit up on his own).

I think it was at last years event I saw some really trashy people bringing In their obviously scared children. The kids couldn't have been older than 4 or 5...and I turned to them and blurted out, "what kind of terrible parents being their small kids to something this scary?" They looked at me disgusted, and as I walked off said, "those are the kind of people I'd call child services on."

Maybe that was mean of me, but it felt so good to tell those people off. I truly hope they thought long and hard about their decision after that. Hopefully this year they won't do it again...I wish people would learn what's appropriate for young kids and what isn't.

I love how there is a separate conversation about HHN going on and whenever someone points it back to JP it gets drowned in more comments about HHN. I find it pretty funny actually.
maybe they're painting the showbuilding!....not.

I wonder if they will add any new Dinosaurs to the ride..

I'm really hoping this refurb will give the Dinosaurs movie accurate color schemes.

Could this be Refurb and putting in footers or some other Infrastructure needed for future projects?
That can only be put in with ride down for safety or because we would see it?
Could the refurb also add stuff that will refer to other rides/shows not there yet ?

Not sure what effect this may have on the park plans... but JP4 has been canceled/put on hold.
