KidZone Replacement Rumors & Speculation (Pt 2)

A few things I'm hoping for with a potential Dreamworks change over

1) A boat ride of some kind. Intamin does some pretty cool ones, it could have a really fun drop, obviously not too tall Example - Chiapas Phantasialand Germany

2) Some kind of family suspended coaster, Vekoma would be my first choice Example - This Minus Inversions

3) An interactive play area (of course)

4) A few unique flats Example - Neblulaz ; Example - Magic Bikes ; Example - WindstarZ

5) Keep animal actors but retheme it to Dreamworks and give it more of a story

For #1, I would go for a drop more like what we see with Pirates of the Caribbean where it adds a little thrill but not too much and also not a soaker. For #2, I would hope for a coaster more like Dragonflier at Dollywood but with a longer layout.

I would stick with Trolls & Shrek for a KidZone reboot. Both lend themselves well to immersive theming and the rides that have been mentioned (boat ride, family suspended coaster). Even the transitions between each mini-land would work pretty well. For Shrek....I would keep it swamp themed.

Whatever they do, it needs to be done in phases unless they want a guest services nightmare every day. You close off Kidzone, and the only attractions for children would be Kang & Kodos, Minion Mayhem, Minions Shooter, Animal Actors, ET... and that's it. Only the Minions are desired/recognized by children today.

Probably start off with re-theming Fievel and Curious George into Shrek's Swamp. You would then demolish Curious George, old parade building and old Barney building for a larger ride and land, preferably an indoor Trolls version of the Beijing Kung Fu Panda land.

I think Madagascar would lend itself to a fun play area and maybe that's where the flats could go

How there hasn’t been a Shrek’s Swamp boat ride by now is beyond me. It’s a perfect fit, IMO.

If they ever retheme Toon Lagoon over at IOA (and the properties aren't included in a KidZone revamp), they could easily turn it into a DreamWorks Land where a Shrek swamp ride is what Ripsaw Falls becomes and a Kung Fu Panda ride takes over the Bilge-Rat Barges.

Personally, I think Kung Fu Panda is a big enough IP to have its own standalone land. Trolls/Shrek, I'm not so sure. Can see a mish mash DreamWorks takeover of Kidzone, maybe for 2024, with a new attraction such as a Mack inverted powered coaster that could be built within the necessary timeframe. Then, later down the line after EU opens I do think Toon Lagoon does lend itself to a Kung Fu Panda land retheme.

I do think that other than a potential jurassic world upgrade to river adventure, this decade at IOA will consist largely of re-dos of Toon Lagoon & Lost Continent. In which order I'm not sure, but Kung Fu Panda and Zelda are the obvious choices to me if Lord of the Rings is going to EU and Pokemon goes to USF.

A Trolls dark ride is rumored for 2024 actually. How they will get in done in a 1 year timeframe is beyond me with all the ongoing supply chain issues and when you consider SLOP at USH took 2 years to build.

um, why? I know line persons are not privy to high level decisions but why spend the time to count the balls?

I have no idea; every day at closing all the balls have to be put away, but on Monday they have to be counted, I guess maybe to make sure there are plenty, to see when more need to be ordered, but still shy count? Ought to be obvious if there are enough lol. The putting away is because the area is prone to flooding and so that the area can be maintained overnight. Also, the putting away and counting has to be done while guests are still there shooting balls lol.

3D glasses get counted too at locations that use them.

I keep seeing things like that on Instagram and I want to do it! My favorite are the ones where the person is launched into a pit.
