If I am not fuzzy on the details, wasn't a old Giga plan indicative that they'd have the coaster pointed "away" from residental? And that for the most part that it would've combined the use of the parking lot surrounding Soak City, the Marketplace, and a portion of Ghost Town?

I can be wrong, but I agree with @Freak that if USH could figure out a multi-inverting outdoor coaster of a high scale, Knotts could figure out a GIGA (especially if it was developed with the residential area in mind).

I think I read that it was welded together so I don't think it is portable anymore.

From everything I have heard, I wouldn't expect much from Mystery Lodge. When it closed, I was a little more optimistic that they would find a solution to the problem over there, but I just don't know how much they are willing to invest in it. I am also not privy to how attendance was at the show during it's last year or so and how much that factors into the overall decisions being made. I'd love to be wrong.

This might be an unpopular opinion here, but I still stand by the fact that Knott's doesn't need any type of giga/hyper coaster. I think that by building one, you run the risk of potentially getting rid of things that mean a lot more to the legacy and importance of that park. That is something that has already happened too much for roller coasters at Knott's IMO.

I agree with this. I'd rather see additions to Knott's that embrace the legacy it has rather than try to shoehorn a giant coaster into the park. Build the mega coasters at Magic Mountain, and work on making Knott's the best version of itself that it can be.

I'm inclined to agree, Knott's has such a chilled vibe compared to other parks IMO. And there's tons of low to the ground coasters that are amazing and would be perfect for Knott's.

I have a sentimental attachment to Mystery Lodge, I really like that it's somewhat an authentic native American attraction. But I'd be surprised if was well attended. But they should do something with it, bring back the Haunted Shack as the Haunted Cave lol.

I disagree, Knotts needs a new show stopping coaster for the perfect version of Knotts. It's a Giga, + everything else yes, family focused. Another true Dark Ride, indoor family coaster, or Flying theater/Mad House, Family boomerang, more theming, shows.

You're right it doesn't need it, but if they do everything you guys (and me) wants PLUS a Giga/Large Hyper, Knotts becomes arguably the best "overall" theme park in the country and wouldn't need to add a thrill ride for 15+ years and they could solely focus on families and quality.

I second this. What Knotts REALLY needs right now is at least one more reliable capacity beast. A B&M giga would fit that bill perfectly. Most of the roller coasters on Knott’s roaster sucks at capacity and are not very reliable. A B&M giga would be much needed at the park.

I do think after that they should focus more on reliable family rides though.

I agree with the capacity aspect. Imagine one more coaster than can do what Silver Bullet does, eat guests. That takes the pressure off both Xcelerator and Ghostrider both of which are nightmares on busy days.

No one is asking for Knotts to build a bunch of coasters. Just one, the ultimate one, that both cracks top 10 lists, and offers great capacity.

Don't get me wrong, if they put Falcon's Flight in the car park I'll be there with boots on (the more extreme the better for me). I'm really torn between maintaining the current vibe and something new that really overshadows the whole park. And part of my suggestions is about what the people who run the park might actually do.

It will be very interesting to see what view Cedar Flags takes with Knott's and Magic Mountain - do they see them as mostly complimentary attractions or far enough apart physically to not worry about that too much. We all have our views about what we'd like, but they will make the decisions whether they are ones we agree with or not. Whichever way it goes I'll always be at Knott's around haunt time, my happy place.

While it'd be nice if Knotts got all that, where the heck would it go? Knotts is the size of a shoebox.

But I've been saying for a long time, they should put in a Vekoma (or Mack!) Madhouse themed to the Haunted Shack. I never though of putting it in the old Mystery Lodge space, but it certainly could work there. It's crazy that Madhouses are all over Europe, but are a relative rarity in the states.

Also, while it'd be cool for a giga to use the land across the street near Interdependence Hall, I'd bet it'd be a governmental nightmare of paperwork with the city and state. And I know the original idea is that it would go under, but that would be equally a logistical nightmare, so I really can't see how that would happen either. It's one thing for Ghostrider to go over Grand Ave, a small 2 lane street that's located on their own property. It'd be an entirely different matter for it to cross a major 8 lane street. I seem to recall that even Disney had trouble for a long time with the city to get the Monorail to cross over Disney Drive.

UPDATE: I'd also have to add that I can't imagine the lawsuits should the coaster go over Beach Blvd, and someone's cell phone flies out of their pocket and breaks a windshield. Kinda means that even if Knott's did manage to find a way to make it happen, we should fully expect a no loose items policy and metal detectors.

Fiesta Village needs one more ride, either a full scale coaster or long practical effects dark ride. It’s a nice area, but the only things that are there right now are six flat rides and one very mild family coaster.

I recognize the value of having that many smaller rides to eat people and I’m not advocating for removing things, but as someone who doesn’t really do flat rides Jaguar isn’t usually enough of a reason to walk all the way over there.

Six flat rides in one area is more flat rides than Magic Mountain has at their entire park.... and SFMM gotta be twice the size as Knott's.

Fingers crossed, eventually Fiesta Village will get MonteZOOMa, so that'll add a big attraction.

At least their flat rides hit a variety of ages... thrills like Sol Spin and La Revolucion, and family rides like Hat Dance, Dragon Swing, and the chair swings. Not to mention the carousel. So it sorta has something for everyone.

Not every ride is going to be appealing to every person. Plus, I'm not even really sure where they'd have the space for another attraction.

In my dreams Knotts does a redo of Jaguar, same footers and basic layout but a new coaster by Vekoma, like Big Bear mountain, those trains, 39 inch height requirement, on board audio, a themed obelisk with misters for the middle of the end helix. Plus a nice Rawr sound effect when the train departs lol.

I think that's a terrific idea. Mix in a big refurbishment of the queue and we've got a stew going.

I don’t know if anyone has tried or posted about it yet, but I got the all park pass add on for SFMM and Knott’s. I actually bought the Gold Pass at SFMM and got the add on there. I HIGHLY recommend buying the ad on there as it’s significantly cheaper to do so there! You get free parking to all CF and SF parks and you can go to all of them! Only $205 for buying at SFMM! What a steal! I wonder how long it will be before they patch that hole though lol

So if you’re hesitant to go for the all park add in, do it! It worked for me. Buy it at SFMM because you’ll save a butt ton of money!

Also I’ve forgotten how annoying the crowds are at Knotts. Why can’t there be single rider lines? Also the park needs that mega coaster BADLY to take the pressure of Xcellerator and Ghostrider. You have to get to the park at the butt crack of dawn to have a remote chance of not waiting long in line. Ugh.

Went to the Boysenberry Festival, and I have to say be sure to catch the new melodrama in the Birdcage, The Great Bank Robbery (or, For Whom the Jail Tolls). A Knott's attraction makes an appearance, along with a hilarious joke about it for those in the know. Trust me here.

Went to the park yesterday, Boysenberry Festival was super fun! My partner and I got the elote, beef chilli over Mac and cheese, the stuffed French toast, the pie stuffed cookie, and the Birria fries. All very, very good.

I also finally rode Sol Spin which looks TERRIFYING from the ground but was quite comfortable when I got on! The short cycle helps too. Definitely a unique flat.

This happened within the last couple of days, but the TGI Friday's adjacent to the park has closed. I don't think anyone will miss it. No word on a replacement, but it should be a Peanuts themed cafe/restaurant.
