Margaritaville Resort & Island H20 Live Water Park

What was Splendid China set back behind on 192? Was it Old Town or was it west of I4?

Hopefully they now understand not to try to sell us something we didn't design and engineer. The good news is that now they are hiring us... in their country.

I used to live near it but never went (kind of regret that). I would always see people protesting it along 192 near it.

So should we start calling this Splendid Margaritaville :)

192 isn't my ideal location to stay but I stay there if the opportunity presents itself. Maybe this is what the area needs to jump start a refresher for the area.

Opposite end of 192 from the truly bad area. West of World Drive isn't nearly as shady, and this will be going in near the new WaWa that popped up just before Orange Lake as you're heading west on 192, just before the Target plaza.

EDIT: Wait, on Splendid China's former site? Was that a later edit to the story, because I don't remember reading that in the initial story. Didn't realize the developer owned that land as well (Osceola has a really crappy property appraiser site compared to Orange), and I had it pegged for the area stated above because Encore has a big sign with its name on it and that it's marked for a resort development.

EDIT 2: I just drew out an area that encompasses both the site I thought it was on as well as the Splendid China property, and guess what the total was? 300 acres! That solves that puzzle. So it will stretch from 192 next to Target, behind Target, and all the way down to Splendid China at Funie Steed and Formosa Gardens.

Aaaah.... far far far west of I4. Leave miniatures to Legoland please.

Not really--a couple miles from the "maingate" entrance, 2 blocks from the back door up Sinclair to Osceola Parkway. This is also right at the entrance to 429, so might direct guests to Western Way entrance 2 miles up the highway. Still a pain to get to Universal, but an ideal spot to camp out and see the Mouse.

If you haven't been to "West 192" in even the past 5 years, you'd be shocked. 90% of the shady places have been driven out, it's sort of a mecca for chain dining, running the gamut from Buffalo Wild Wings to Bonefish. Literally 20+ new restaurants in the past half decade, in maybe a 1-mile stretch. (More and more of a Cast Member hang-out as well, as CMs have been priced out of Orange/Osceola onto nearby SR 27 in Polk/Lake).

Latest word is this will have a water park open to the public attached, fronting right onto 192, as well as a ton of retail. Curious to see how this plays out.

The Island development in Pigeon Forge that has a Margaritaville Hotel and Restaurant along with and Eye ferris wheel and and a mixture of attractions, shops and eateries seem to doing well. Nice to see the branching out from casinos. Looks like Jimmy Buffet's influence will be heavily featured on the new Norwegian mega ship.

Yup. First Margaritaville at Sea on the Norwegian Escape. Also, a new Margaritaville hotel is set to open in South Florida in October.

Coming up the 429 the other day, shocked by just how big this is. It's beyond a hotel--while not quite Celebration size, it's probably in the same category as a Reunion. Basically a small town.

Margaritaville properties are a bit on a winning streak.

They have purchased a hotel in Gatlinburg to convert based on the success of The Island in Pigeon Forge.

They are expanding the non casino resort in Biloxi

There even has been talk of Johnny Morris of Bass Pro partnering with them on a Mud Island redo in Memphis.

So some of the tenent areally being announced. A Kiss Rock and Brews, a dine in movie plex, Rascal Flatts restuarant, Dave and Buster kinda knock off and so on

I haven't been able to snuff out prices for these cottages. Since they keep advertising the "Ethan Allen decor", I'm assuming they'll be particularly expensive.
