5 minutes to go until Kickoff! Good luck to everyone and their teams this year. Great storylines all across the league. To get things started a bit, I have Detroit vs Houston in the SB. I think it’s going to be a very competitive season across the board.

Cheers to the first Sunday of football everyone, beers are on Dak!

That is quite the SB pick, I don't not like it.......just do not see it happening haha.
Rough start for my Cardinals, not the worse game, it could have been a lot worse, and was better than expected. But some bone headed mistakes were made that should not have.

I have utmost faith in CJ Stroud frankly. This prediction does bank on injuries as well. Texans should win their division no problem and have good home field throughout playoffs. Chiefs are obviously tall task to beat though.

NFC to me feels widdeeeee open. Detroit, SF, GB, Philly, TB, all could make SB. I do not believe in Atlanta at all frankly.

2 months later feel like this thread is normally more active so I’m bumping. A couple rambling thoughts on the league this year:

- The league is awful all around, it’s kinda wild how bad the product is. I’m enjoying it, chaotic football works for me, but there’s maybe 4-5 legit good teams in the entire league. Even the Chiefs aren’t playing well. Wild.

- As a Patriots fan, holy crap we have a stud in Drake Maye. With the most money to spend this offseason and a high draft pick incoming, I’m incredibly hopeful for the future here.

- Caleb Williams needs to improve, but it’s wild how all the first round quarterbacks are playing very well. This draft class will have implications on this league for next decade.

- Lions feel destined to win the Super Bowl. It’s their year.

The Packers have been a mess this year and are somehow still 7-3. It's wild that I was kind of more optimistic about the team last year at this time when they were 4-6! There are just a lot of players -- including Jordan Love -- that I was hoping to see more noticeable growth from than I have so far.

I think they're another year (and one or two additional A-level players) from really contending.

Is your coach at risk of being fired? I don’t expect us to win but Drake Maye has been playing so well a true upset feels incoming, and we already played you guys close…..

It's an interim era. Defenses have caught up with the pass happiness. The successful teams can run the ball in addition to passing well. Myself, I think it's a better game with the return of prominent running backs and some tough defenses. I've never been a fan of 42 to 35 shootouts where both teams move up and down the field like there's no defenses on the field.

I largely agree. I hated how last few years people made it sound like defense is not important at all. It’s much more refreshing and balanced than the past few seasons across the league.

Yeah - when we didn’t have Tua and some other hurt players. Since Tua has been back and we’ve gotten over the injuries, they’ve been one of the better teams in football. They have a good shot to run the table and sneak into a playoff slot if they can continue this play.

So no - at this point, McDaniel should not be fired.

Finally stumbled upon this thread. Wild that Belichick won't be in the league next year.

As a Pats fan, I get it. He’s lost touch as a GM, would want to fire entire organizations setup, coaching staff, probably some players too. He’s too much baggage and it’s very clear post Brady, that Bill has lost his touch in a big way. Brady was what really made the Patriots, and Bill was the perfect cherry on top. Bill doesn’t work without an elite QB and giving up draft control.

His history without Brady is a coach with excellent defenses and weak offenses. See Cleveland and past NE Brady.

A lot of his history with Brady is a similar deal. Getting arguably the greatest tight end of all time certainly helped!

I think he'll do a good job at UNC - recruiting should be no issue for him just like with Deion.

Yes, the tight end played HS ball about 6 or 7 miles from where I live.....I'm not sure about his recruiting skills. He doesn't have the type of a warm personality that would do well in a recruit's family's living room. Bill is as cold as ice.
