I do prefer Nintendo, but then again I will be shot here when I say I have never seen the Star Wars movies. I worked at a video game store in High School, so obviously you can see my preference. Now the rest of my family and friends, Star Wars wins :)

If people were only picking a single park to go to, yea, opening the same year (And for the record I don't see SWL opening in 2018 at all) would be a problem for UOR. But I think there's a bigger chance Nintendo and SWL opening in one year would hurt DAK and EPCOT a lot more than the others.

Trust me, you don't want to watch 1-3.

I am optimistic that it can open before the end of 2018. But who knows. Epcot attendance is only propped up by events it has. I don't think it hurts their attendance because people will still go to those events. DAK will have had some major additions the year prior. So for those that don't take yearly vacations I don't see them not going to DAK. It will be interesting to see what happens if both WDW and Uni open big name IP lands at the same time.

That is his fear, if I watch 1 to 3 first I may not even get thru all 3 and for sure not want to watch 4 to 6 which are the good ones. He also thinks I will be even more lost in 1 to 3 without watching 4 to 6. I may have to become not so stubborn so that I can see the movies before SWL opens up. But then again I haven't see all the HP movies either. I read all the books twice, but the movies that came out after my kids were born never got watched. We even own some of them that I didn't watch. So time really isn't there to watch movies I can't watch around the kids.

Losing Twister and Disaster is incredibly minor in the big picture, lines may swell up a bit with those options gone but those attractions have been getting some of the worst draws of people in the park for a while now. People didn't care about them and it was obvious replacements were needed. KidZone will hurt more not because it's popular (it's not), but it takes out a chunk of land for people to be in and will make the park seem more crowded.

But at the end of the day, no matter when Universal decides to close stuff you're going to have to deal with the "capacity issues" until the replacements come. If they decided to wait there would still be these issues and it would just end with the new and exciting attractions to draw people not opening until a later date.

The people who prop up Food and Wine and Flower and Garden are the locals, for the most part. And in a competition between Avatar and Nintendo for tourist dollars, my money is not on the Sextails.

Yes, which is why I don't think Epcot will hurt much from this. They are already hurting from tourists to begin with.

I would agree with you if Nintendo and Avatar were competing at opening time. Because people may skip Disney all together and do Universal. But you are talking about Star Wars and Nintendo. Will people leave Disney property and add a day or two to do Universal or will they just go and do AK because it has "something" new also. That is the big question. And honestly I have no clue. It will be very interesting to see this play out since it really hasn't happened recently where both parks have a major IP that is a whole land going in at the same time. I don't see Uni's numbers going down, but will they increase in 2018 if this happens, that I am not sure about. I KNOW Disney's numbers will go up, especially guest spending and attendance at HS. I personally think you will see attendance increase at AK for 2017 and 2018. Epcot will stay the same and MK will increase as always.

F$F and Fallon will be taking on Avatar. Star Wars and Nintendo Land won't be competing as much as complementing in the eyes of tourists. Those will be the 2 things folks traveling to Orlando will have on their must do list in 2018.

Which should be interesting itself. Avatar is so out of people's minds and the new movie will come out after the park expansion opens. But F&F and Fallon are nitch markets. So while on a theme park side 2 new lands and 2 new rides coming to Orlando is good, will it drive people down to Orlando? I don't know. Should be interesting to see what happens now that Disney has decided to not be idiots and no longer have thumbs stuck up their butt :)

Many people now recommend that newcomers watch the films in this order: 4, 5, (1), 2, 3, 6. For someone coming to the story unspoiled, it flows the best and works really well from a story-telling standpoint to 'flashback' to the prequel films to explain the dramatic reveal at the end of episode 5 and set up the resolution of episode 6. Episode 1 is in parentheses because it is optional--it adds almost nothing to the overall story that isn't established in the others, and arguably weakens it, so some people suggest skipping it altogether.

I told my husband about this and he is begging me to now watch it in this order. He says please, please, please don't watch 1 first lol I guess 1 was that bad?

On a side note, he is very excited about the new movies and from what he has heard he feels they will be WAY better than 1,2, and 3. He is also excited about the new land, but I have told him almost nothing about it :) Just shows you Star Wars fans will eat up anything with the name Star Wars.

Fallon may be niche, but F&F? The last 3 movies have made a lot of money. I don't think it can be considered niche

I guess it is niche to me because I don't know anyone into that much. People always talk about certain movies coming out that they really want to see and F&F never seems to be mentioned among people I talk to. Does it make more in the US market or International market? Wonder if it is more regional too. Or I just hang out with lame people lol I have never seen any of the movies, so I don't even know what they are about other than cars. Oh I also never seen them playing on TV where I see Transformers, Mummy, MIB, HP, etc playing all the time.

Well, but everything makes more internationally now. The last two films still made 230 and 350 mil domestically.

So Transformer type numbers. So it will probably be just as popular as transformers. Which isn't bad. But did Transformers increase attendance at the parks? My mind is mush today and can't remember. I know there was conflicting reports as to whether it did help or not.

if my memory serves me correct, Universal Execs said the USF attendance/revenue increased 20-25% in the 6 months after Transformers/Springfield redo opened and apx. 10% for the year.

While all this work going on in US is great, I do feel IOA should get the major attention next. Lost Continent and Toon Lagoon seem to have been on the chopping blocks forever now, plus there's those Avengers ride and Seuss overhaul rumors. Plus, this could give US a chance to take a break from constant new attractions, and focus on upgrades of some of their pre-existing ones to distract from IOA. (so Mummy, MIB, ET, etc. upgrades)

I agree in general, but USF had several outdated attractions that have been here far too long. I feel like once Fallon, F&F and Nintendo open then IOA's more outdated attractions and areas can get the love.

Well, they won't be getting anything big beyond Kong for a few years... so there you have it.

As much as I agree with a lot of what you say, that I don't agree what-so-ever. With two anniversaries coming along for IOA (IOAs 20th in 2019 and HPs 10 year in 2020) it only makes sense to do something special for IOA around that time. Especially with the fact that IOA was a groundbreaking park when it opened due to it opening with some of the worlds best attractions period and then with Potter having some things special to it also.

That being said, talking about Kidzone having an effect on capacity, It will take some sq foot for now but once it comes back in a better format than what it is, i'm sure the capacity for USF will go up exponentially just on the attractions itself.
