Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition is coming to Switch 2 running at 30fps in quality mode or 40fps in performance mode. But what impressed me the most is that CD Projekt RED ported the game to the console in just 7 weeks!!!

Apparently Nintendo did a great job of making it easier for third parties to bring their games to the console.

I don’t think anyone should complain about this. It’s a portable version that includes the expansion that ditched PS4/XBone. Plus it looked pretty dang good if that was game footage. I wonder if CDProjekt would go back and do a Switch 2 Edition of Witcher 3 like Warner is doing with Hogwarts. I’d also love to see DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal get updates that bring them in line with at least the PS4/XBone versions.

I mean this just proves the hardware is on par with a ps4 pro.

pro controller will work 100% it’s just gonna be missing the C button. The console is fine spec wise and the games look good, it’s just not worth the price for a lot of people. Everyone is still waiting on ps5 games! Haha

I was looking at the accessories yesterday and i was like, 'i really don't want to have to buy a new pro controller, i actually really like that one' and my buddy said, 'you don't have to, it'll work with the new console just fine' i was ecstatic. I love the feel of that controller.
Xbox's Elite series is still my go-to but i use my Pro on my PC from time to time.

I’m going to get the new Pro Controller just so I can have two “regular controllers” without having to force the use of Joy-Con.

On the topic of backwards compatibility they released a list of games that just don’t work.

Really fun direct overall, and an incredibly solid start to the generation, heavily tainted by the pricing news that came after.

Mario Kart looks incredible. All the characters are so wild. I love going back to traditional non-custom Karts / Bikes. I was curious about how they could grow from such a perfectly well-rounded game as MK8, and this seems like it. Bananza is very exciting and July is really close. Hyrule Warriors and Air Ride by the end of the year is really great too.

Third-parties really brought it. It was like the Switch 1 presentation all over again. Eldin Ring, Cyberpunk, FF7 Remake, 2K all showing up here shows how confident devs are that this thing is up to snuff enough with PS5 / Xbox. Civ showing off mouse controls is a great sign for PC ports. Showing off both new Deltarune and Silksong footage was actually insane. Lots of these games being launch titles is also wonderful. There will a lot to play come launch.

Really nice to see a lot of big amiibo reveals as well! I was worried about the line going into the new gen, but a new Street Fighter line of figures and cards + 4 more new Tears of the Kingdom amiibo? That's terrific to see.

That pricing is pretty terrible. Especially for worldwide Nintendo fans, this is exponentially pricier than I think anyone could have possibly expected.

As cool as everything was, I honestly hope Nintendo has a 3DS moment here, where the new console doesn't do great at first because the price is just too high for everything. They really need a solid amount of that Wii U-era fear of god put back in them. Charging for that Switch 2 guide game? The C-button not working without NSO? $50 low-quality webcam? $70 not only as a standard, but $80 with the biggest games?

Nintendo games on Switch are already wayyy overpriced imo. Endless Ocean Luminous, Mario Tennis Aces, Advance Wars, Famicom Detective Club for $50 is already an insane ask, are they all going to be $60 / $70 next-gen? There's only so far you can squeeze costumers like this until they just say "I'm good", especially in this climate.

Mario Kart World looks insane and the demolition mechanics in DK are really creative! But with how expensive it all is, I'm probably going to wait a year or two to get the console. I'm already comfortable with my gaming setup for now, and I'd rather wait for more exclusives/GCN titles to be added before jumping in. Kirby Air Riders might make me cave in though...
I don't know how I feel about the system tour costing money. Games like Wii Sports and Astro's Playroom came free with their consoles. I guess this is the reality now with development becoming more expensive?

Wii Sports being free was something that Reggie Fils-Aime pushed for, and was met with significant resistance from Nintendo of Japan until they eventually caved. It seems they have abandoned that philosophy after his departure from the company.

I'm not sure why they don't see the value of a pack-in game after Sony's Astro's Playroom did so well. I can begrudgingly live with most of these price increases, but the Welcome Tour costing money doesn't sit well with me, even if it's only $5-$10.

It feels practically pointless as a paid product. It's legitimately baffling.

When the sales are low on the welcome tour they will get the picture.

Here’s something I haven’t seen anyone mention: $60 in 2017 when Nintendo set the price of Switch games, is $78 dollars today. If Nintendo continued to price Switch 2 games the same as they were before, it would be like selling them for $42 in 2017.

Hell, $70 in 2020 when Sony set the price for PS5 games is $85 today. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if when the PS6 rolls around and Sony and Microsoft set their new prices, Nintendo all of a sudden looks REASONABLE. That $100 GTA rumor seems pretty likely at this point.

I also think people are way overreacting to Nintendo charging for Switch 2 upgrades. Some of them contain significant new content, and Sony has done the same for years. I don’t see them being more than $10-$15 at most, and Expansion Pass members get some of them for free.

That being said, Welcome Tour costing money is legitimately indefensible and makes no sense any way you look at it. My generation is obsessed with Wii Sports because it was a pack in game and created a universal experience no matter what games you bought past that point. And Astro Bot was so powerful that it snowballed into a full game that won game of the year and blew everyone’s minds!

Complete waste of an opportunity to create a powerful universal experience that gives the Switch 2 some identity and connects its users to it right off the bat.

Not to mention none of Nintendo’s games are stuffed with in game stores and microtransactions making a simple price increase for inflations sake a bit easier to swallow. There’s nothing to point at to be like “what about all the money you’re making over here?”

I won’t like it but I also know I’m going to enjoy the hell out of this system.

i dunno, it’s not like everyone is super chill and relaxed about everything else impacted by inflation. these prices, in addition to how expensive the console is, will absolutely put me off buying a switch 2 for a good long while.

And that’s fine too. I am completely aware of my privileged position of only having to take care of myself therefore this is an easy purchase even with what’s going on. When mentioning inflation in this context though we’re talking about decades of game prices remains the same while other things went up. It was going to happen eventually and now we have the catalyst.
