Blaaah. Why was the Royal Rumble ring basically a Raw ring? What happened to the days when they used to actually make the stuff look *special* for triple the ticket price of a normal event.

A lot of pizza in Japan is kind of weird. Defintely not how we're used to it in the US.

I Couldn't agree more...

This was the first PPV in HD so the ring has to be a certain colour so the image doesn't mess up and... well you get my point but it sucks they are using MOSTLY the same set for all their ppvs and shows now.

I'm ok with the same set for Raw / Smackdown / ECW. I always thought the fisty SD set looked foolish, and the "we're not really taping at SD because look, it's just like the original ECW entry and just don't pay attention to that giant curtain" ECW set was embarassing.

The ppvs do have different sets still, though they tend to be slightly tweaked rehash sets of that same ppv the year before.

The HD sets mean they can utilise the graphics of a wrestlers entrance much better. For example, I went to raw it 2004 and Jeff hardys entrance was only noticed by music and some lighting. Rest was the raw logo and silver. Now, You can't miss it because the whole set becomes a spectacular light show which really blows you away. The old ECW set was thrown together and looks like something i have built in my backyard. The only VERY unique sets i see are the Wrestlemania sets (Wrestlemania 24 set, the most amazing lights and pyro i've ever seen).

But ya gotta admit being able to fire pyro 2000 feet in the air is pretty cool, and the spider above the ring was also awesome.

Here a picture of the raw ring from a UK tour a few months ago;
