That arch always bothered me. It's just like "oh okay, NOW we're at MGM" .

Not to mention, it's like a total rip off of the Universal arches, only blockier and uglier.

To be fair, many movie studios back in the golden age had archways as the entrance. I know the Paramount studios arches are still there at least.
Back when MGM opened, there was a theme park half and a studio half...that archway was the entrance to the studio half.
