Most likely an E-Stop in case of emergency. Although, how does the performer push a button in a costume with no hands? Curious...

^There are parade attendants who walk with the characters. I'm sure they could do it...

Wandkeeper is correct the are for E-stop. They are also used when the floats stop for meet and greats. They are pushed in by the parade attendants so the floats can't accidentally be moved by the drivers!

^ It wasn't taken at one of the major resort properties. The railroad crossing signal kills that. You will surprise me if it is in the Orlando/Kissimmee area.

Winter Park in the main park next to Park Avenue. I know that curved pergola structure anywhere. Honestly such a beautiful place to photograph.
