Starting this thread 5 days earlier than last year only because I did a mini photo update yesterday. This year, the event starts closer to the end of September instead of the beginning like last year.

EVENT DATES: SEPT 20th - NOV 3rd
1000049385.jpg

As of right now we don't know what is returning or if it's still going the extreme route. But here is what I was able to capture...
20250320_012804.jpg
LOVED that you can go right up to the side of the warehouse. It made my haunt heart giddy lol

20250320_012819.jpg
SAW: The movie is on hold, but we're still open!

20250320_012853.jpg
Trick R Treat was not easy to snag a photo of...

20250320_013226.jpg
Honestly, I'm glad they gutted these games to use as a house location. Just wish they'd revamp the area. .....oh yea, "THE CONJURING"

20250320_013009.jpg
Netflix: "Army of the Dead"

20250320_013118.jpg
Aftermath: Nocturnal Hunt (Maze Occupancy: 100 guests)

***I sat on the right side of Apocalypse without even thinking about it, so I wasn't able to snag a quick photo from above of the Deja Vu Graveyard. Nor was I able to fully survey the area. I'll be sure to check it out next time i go.

20250320_013024.jpg
This was great to see, too bad it wasn't open lol. Should just make it a year round spooky giftshop featuring basic Fright Fest merch until the event rolls around. (Sell SCREAM BREAK merch! Also Holiday Horror merch!)

ROUGHLY ONLY 183 DAYS UNTIL FRIGHT FEST 2025 BEGINS!

I went on the same night that they had the media night (by coincidence) and it was an absolute poop show. Hopefully they've given themselves more time to have things running better from the get-go.

It was my first time at Fright Fest last year even though I come to LA for haunts every year since 2009, and I'm very reluctant to go back to go back to Flags. Just an objective customer - some of the mazes were solid though (when they were open), and maybe it would be a better experience if I haven't stepped off a 14 hour flight that morning lol.

They should have a promotional line like: "our maze count goes up to eleven" (for the Spinal Tap fans).

That's 7 houses ....last year had 11?

Mining Town is definitely NEW

As for the one by Wonder Woman's station is Stranger Things location. The other one nearby (besides SAW) in the Tidal Wave plot is Trick R Treat.

Here is the thing if they cur scream break to improve the event then do it

I'm fine with some repeat houses but the list to me is too many. If Six Flags wants to compete they need to do more, if they don't then fine bring back scream break and do the bare minimum but not a fan of them cutting corners everywhere. Knotts and them merged to compete with USH and Fan fest shows me USH is at least trying and six Flags is over here just saying they want to be the best but I'm not seeing the effort by anyone but the scare actors

We can wait for official announcements but I went to FF last year most days it was empty and this is why, everyone can make excuses but its because six Flags is not putting the effort in it required to go against other events and they charge the same price

I’m open to a mining town maze. The next new maze should be DC related.

10 is a good amount for that park.
5 originals/repeats
5 new/IPs
If it’s only 7, that make the event quicker for me to visit and leave lol

SFMM is not trying to compete. They will say anything with no actions/effort put in. FF will continue to be mid at best. Their prices are my biggest complaint.

I mean aren't the prices the same for HHN and scary farm as six Flags...so yeah I'd say your competing with those prices

Also I'm just so confused on why Knotts bought them just to do the same thing.....scary farm is so great why not make six flags better? I mean hopefully thats what the new houses do but with so many repeats just makes me think it will be the same event as last year and will be confused why Scream break was cancelled

Knotts didnt buy Six Flags

You say Scary Farm is great, but yet complain Fright Fest is full of repeats resulting in it "being the same as last year" .....um... by that logic, Knotts is the exact same event as last year.

They merged

And Knotts houses are near HHN quality

I mean do you want FF to suck? Like what are you arguing here to do what they have been for years and somehow it will make more people come or make fans happier somehow?

I went to FF over 8 times last year and besides like one night it was a ghost town, I want the event to work and get people to come and the current houses and strategy is clearly not working

Knott's Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain did not merge. Cedar Fair and Six Flags merged. Knott's Berry Farm, even before the merger, was a massive outlier among Cedar Fair parks when it comes to the tradition and quality of its Halloween event, all of which predates Cedar Fair's acquisition of the park by, uh, a long time. I have no idea why anyone would expect Magic Mountain to suddenly embrace the quality and tradition of Knott's Scary Farm when not one Cedar Fair legacy park has done so in the nearly 30 years since Knott's was acquired by Cedar Fair.

I agree that Fright Fest is now ostensibly competing with Horror Nights and Scary Farm on quality because its ticket prices are, well, what they are. But I don't think that means Fright Fest can (or should!) try to go toe-to-toe with Horror Nights when it comes to introducing new mazes every year. Knott's Scary Farm doesn't do that and people around here seem to have a pretty positive impression of that event.

I think it makes significantly more sense for Magic Mountain to focus on just one horror event a year and improving on the quality of the existing mazes, even if that means repeating mazes for many years. The event needs significant investment in areas other than new mazes in order to legitimately compete with the other parks in the region.

This is something you repeatedly fall back on when people point out one of your posts does not make any sense. No, we do not want Fright Fest to suck. We simply disagree with either your diagnosis of the situation, your solution to that diagnosis, or your basic understanding of black and white facts. Give it a rest.

Scary farm prices are cheaper than FF and some of HHN’s tickets are cheaper depending on which day you go. I don’t think their prices are based on competition. I believe it’s due to the park being the only one located in Valencia.

I prefer Scream Break over FF and wish they kept the event since it was the only park offering a Spring haunt event.

Fright Fest is the place you go just because you enjoy Halloween and it’s not far from you or you have season pass. They will continue to disappoint you as long as the same management is in charge. They are in the mid category and it will remain that way. Last year showed you who they are.

KSF has their own tradition and has been underrated for a while now. I declared them the 2024 SoCal Haunt Champs and they will continue to be good due to the people in charge and their passion to deliver quality on an annual basis.

So if im interpreting this correctly, that's 3 new mazes (so far)

- Mining Town Theme maze
- TrT replacement maze(?)
- Stranger Things replacement(?)

Which raises the question:
Sewer of Souls & Aftermath getting replaced?
Conjuring location by Tatsu being used?

Isn’t Conjuring being replace with Mining Town?

SOS and Aftermath need to be replaced.

That was my initial guess for that location.

Sewer isn't bad. Out of the existing originals, it has only been around since 2018 (same with Condamned). Vault 666, Aftermath & Willoughby's have been there the longest.

I'm honestly surprised Vault hasn't been replaced by now.

Willoughby's has legacy immunity being part of the event since the beginning. However it does need a new iteration.

Aftermath was one of my favorites, but without the right cast it doesn't work (like most everything). They split it into two mazes last year, but doesn't mean it couldn't go back to being one. The area "looked" cleaned up a bit when I saw it from Apocalypse back in March(?). It's possible that the Mining Town themed maze replaces Aftermath.

I had an amazinggggggg run through Sewers last year.....It will never be that good again but no one was in there and the actors were running through the house just doing an amazing job of trying to scare me at every turn

So if it goes I get it...but I would take away other older houses before this but wont complain if we get a new house there either

To me it sounds like SFMM is bowing out of the IP game, realizing they’re not HHN.
