I remember they had that "eerie/spooky" magician/mentalist in the Steampunk theater during Fright Fest a few years ago. Maybe asking him back?

I saw that Dark Minds show at Fright Fest 2021. Half decent show. Multiple classic tricks, with audience participation. Don't remember the theater being close to full though. Only have this grainy photo

Our mountain has to at least work (or partner with magic mountain at this point) right?

He may have been solely a “fan page” at one point but the updates he has given recently (like the sign and the above coaster site) seem like things that could only be done with the explicit approval of the park. (Like if i tried to fly a drone at the park i would be kicked out in a cocaine heartbeat)

General question for those more familiar with the park's operations... Is there a reason they're open this coming Monday, the 24th? The holiday was last week...

It was my understanding that SFMM has been open Friday through Monday(closed Tuesday through Thursday), even in off season, for the past 2 years. The schedule also says it's open the Monday after, March 3rd

Yeah, they've been open Fri-Mon for a while now. So those Mondays on non-holidays are a pretty good day to go, if you can make it. Sometimes I just stop by for maybe 2 hours after work, and mostly have the park to myself.

And they're going to be open daily from March 7 - April 28

Paint isn't going to fix that old Six Flags Logo, I assume they are just gonna place a seperate sign over it.

The rumor is the HH sign will move up to replace the MM one and the bottom portion will get a new logo also.

I was at the park today, and had a surprisingly good time.

  • While waiting for Early Entry, they had employees on a microphone to play trivia with the waiting crowd, and the prize were front of line passes.
  • Many of the stores at the front of the park have been or will be repainted
  • They had Batman and Batgirl out for a meet and greet right away at 10:30 in the morning, near the entrance to DC Universe
  • Nearly all the major rides were open right away, including X2. And for the second time in a few months, X2 was even ready to go for the Early Entry crowd! This hasn't happened in years, as X2 is notorious for opening 30-90 minutes after the park opens. But this marked the 2nd time I was able to get a ride on it before the park was officially even open. WW:FOC was also open right away, as was FT, Rev, Tatsu, and Crazanity. This hasn't happened in ages. And all rides were fully staffed, and were assigning rows (not everyone's favorite, I know, but it does lead to increased capacity).
  • Twin Charged Tacos was open
  • Hurricane Harbor is getting a very serious repaint. It looks like nearly every single slide in the entire park has either been repainted or fully replaced. Even the staircases are getting repainted... it's almost going to look like a whole new waterpark
  • New bathrooms by Steampunk District look very near finished.
It's not all 100% roses to be sure... some rides did go down for a bit (Goliath, WCR, Riddler). Batman was also getting some sort of work done to it's lift hill. And while it's great to have the bathroom back at Steampunk, it looks like a carbon copy of the one behind the Emporium. Really wished it had a bit of theming to it. They could always add some later, but I'm not holding out a lot of hope.

While there's not a lot of noticeable development for the new ride, they did add a perimeter fence where the new area boarders Goldrusher, as well as a fence behind Swashbuckler. If you ride either one, you'll see it, but otherwise it's pretty hard to see elsewhere. The fence is the same type they put in by the exit to Ninja.

Still, I do see a lot of improvements, and it is making me cautiously optimistic for their future as a park.

Glad to hear the park is shaping up! Haven’t been since Fright Fest so I’m hoping to invest in the All-park pass and go next week!

Speaking of the all-park pass, anyone purchase it and use it yet? Were there any hiccups using it for both Knott’s’s and Six Flags?

I’m also wondering this. Have the lads from Knotts but haven’t been to Magic Mountain yet.

This is a huge theoretical post, but if the rumors are true about CGA closing this fall, any chance Magic could inherit some of CGA’s flats? It sure could use some more.

How cool would it be to bring down Orbit and Berserker, basically resurrecting old flats the park had long ago?
