Apparently Six Flags is worried that someone will come up with enough cash for a hostile takeover after their stock dropped 72% in the recent crash.

There's some thought Warren Buffett may look to make some purchases while the price is low:

Hotel chains such as Marriott and Hilton, casino groups such as Caesars Entertainment, cinema chains including Cinemark and AMC Theatres, and theme-park operators such as Six Flags and SeaWorld could also fit the bill.

If they start before the year is over then they can make it before Summer. Although this park has a history of completing projects at a snails pace.

Yes, that was for 2020 expenditures. Some 2020 capital improvement projects were eliminated, and some just deferred. This ride will still happen. Magic Mountain is their money maker and that is why, except for what is going on right now, it is a year round park.

I hope you're right. And I hope this Corona Virus settles this spring, because it's causing lots of companies to fold. I know SF got that new credit line, but this company is struggling.

While nothing can be certain based on one rumor, this seems to make a lot of sense. GP and fans alike would like it, and even with all this Covid/economy situation, this could still happen. Being a near clone, many costs would go down, they'd be able to reuse the station (I figured there was a reason it wasn't torn down with the ride), not to mention that materials are relatively minimal for this sort of ride (meaning it doesn't need a lot of supports or separate parts for a ride of this size). And while the chain as a whole is likely to suffer a lot financially, seeing this is their crown jewel park in the chain and celebrating a milestone anniversary, I could see whatever remaining major addition budgets from other parks funneled into this. If any park in the chain were to get anything major, SFMM would be it for those reasons. It's the most cost effective, major addition they could do.

It probably would mean, though, we could likely kiss some much needed entry plaza restroom renovations or other such maintenance projects good-bye. Give and take.

Here's a thing: why wouldn't other groups in the community be reporting this? Especially as unlike the Dorney Park blueprints..this is an overlay.

Not saying it ain't real, as I can buy a Raptor over a Mack PowerSplash (As the one coming to Texas is the one originally planned for Dubai..) but..for now, it's best to be hesitant.
