My dad used to visit for golf but it was easy and cheap enough to get flights because it was a vacation hotspot.

Spot on. Vegas is also only a 3 hour drive away.

I love Orlando but if if it wasn’t for the parks, I don’t think I’d ever visit.

That's the way that most tourist destinations are. If it wasn't for the casinos no one would go to Las Vegas. If it wasn't for the beach, Miami would just be another southern port town. If it wasn't for the ski resorts no one would go to Aspen. Any attractions or activities outside of the areas primary draw is icing on the cake. In that respect, I think Orlando has improved.

NOW we know why this hiring freeze is happening. I’m expecting lot of people to hold off to visit until 2020 now. Crazy turn of events!

Nope. At this point they need the helicopter shots of a 10 hour line to save face. They might even throw Fastpasses on this thing to inflate the numbers even more.

I wonder what their internal guest surveys, especially by demographic, are saying. I'd think the teenage kids and 20 somethings love the ride and land. Not sure what the other age groups are thinking, except, I'd just about bet the over 50's generally don't care for the concept getting away from the original trilogy and the gaming aspects of SR.

Gonna disagree here....you have to remember the generational divide with love of Star Wars as those in their 20 somethings didn't necessary grow up with Star Wars like their parents (they grew up with the mediocre prequels). I think it would test really well with young children and those in mid to late 30s and 40s.

Am I cynical for thinking this is extremely convenient timing for a leak from inside the ride

Plus everybody knows that real leaked photos are taken in dimly lit areas, are always out of focus and photographed using a potato.

For Disney's sake, this attraction better be way better than just good. They've been building it up like it's the second coming. Expectations will be stratospheric. ....Of course, I hope it is that excellent.

Have they been building it or has the enthusiast community been building it up?

Yesterday on Disney Parks Blog

When it opens, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Guests will be recruited to join Rey and General Organa at a secret base.

I don't see that as building it as the greatest ride ever or the second coming though. That's just straight marketing describing the ride IMO.

Ehhh... Disney's promoting their ride. Multiple AP holders that I know (a few friends, my mom, brother, sister, etc) don't even know that this ride is a thing, let alone the name or any hype. It's the bubble we are constantly in here in the theme park community - it magnifies everything.

Agreed. I haven't seen them marketing this or building it up any different than they would a normal ride. Like I said above, I know a bunch of casual AP holders who don't even know about this ride. Disney wants to change that.

I think it may be too hard to try and describe the experience without them giving too many details and confusing guests as well. I think once the ride actually does open to the public we will see a huge storm of commercials and social media based purely off of the reactions of the ride (asumming this is what we all hope it is) similar to what Universal did with Hagrid in Twitter.

Exactly, it's just marketing speak. Hell, Universal calls Supercharged 'Amazing'. It doesn't mean anything until it opens.

Having said that, from everything I've read, I think it will be a top tier ride.

I'm willing to place money that the ride soft opens sometime in the last two weeks of 2019.

Quote this post in 5 months if you must.
