TLJ reviews were also most positive followed by backlash after the general public got to watch.
I was literally waiting fro someone to say "BUT TLJ GOT GOOD REVIEWS". Ultimately its too each their own. Im happy with the positive reactions so I'm excited for Thursday. Just judge the film on your own thoughts and feelings and not the feelings of critics. Now, if every single person came out saying "this is hot garbage" id be more worried but doesn't seem to be the consensus and sounds like a lot happens. Can't wait to experience it.

Bc TLJ was a really good film and the Star Wars fan base is toxic and hates change.... :look:
But no because everyone hated The Force Awakens too for being just like the New Hope. Star Wars fans are just pathetic to be honest, I've never seen a more unhappy group of people in my life with constant infighting and no one is happy. Like, I TRULY do not understand what this fan base wants I literally don't. Its why I minimize any online Star Wars interactions. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I feel with Star Wars fans they are completely and utterly unwilling to listen to yours or anyone else's side of the story.

I’ve seen a couple reactions that describe this as a “course correct” from TLJ, to an extent where “if you liked TLJ I’ve got bad news for you.”

Considering TLJ was the first Star Wars movie I actually liked, this bodes well for me...

More so just saying get ready for people to get hyped before the movie based on the reviews and then come Thursday night, you see a huge ripping on the film because it didn't match expectations.

Before someone thinks i didn't like it for political reasons: I just found it boring and essentially tuned the movie out after the casino scene.

Im fine with a "course correction" for this film. I, didn't care for TLJ but I didn't find it ruined Star Wars like some did, I felt it more did damage to the new characters in this trilogy and didn't expand on much from TFA. If this film can do that I can see myself being very satisfied.

I’m expecting the RT score the be in the high 70’s to low 80’s though. I’ve seen some real mixed opinions. Not all rainbows and butterflies.

I am not surprised AT ALL at the results of that survey. I don’t want to make this political though so I’ll hold my tongue on what I really want to say.

TFA was pretty well liked. It just received a bit of flack for basically hitting the same beats as A New Hope. But it wasn’t until most people’s second viewing until that criticism started. People were pumped when TFA first released.

I will say though he gave a extreme positive review of the Last Jedi....so for him to come back with this for TROS is not a good look

All I know is based on most of these reactions and C3PO in the trailer Im 100% bringing my tissues.

Also, Brian, are we allowed to post reviews starting Thursday evening? With spoiler tags of course. Not sure if theres a certain policy around here containing big movies like this.

Yup. For the big movies, we usually ask for spoiler tags for a 2 weekend period. After that, all bets are off.

Good to know! Im going Thursday at 6:00 so ill likely be one of the first reviews on here. Assuming I can process everything Thursday evening but ill try and give a brief review with maybe a few spoilers for the people who want them. Good to know though, thanks!

For me, the Disney Trilogy will always hold a special place in my heart because they're the only Star Wars films I've gotten to experience in the theatre. The Force Awakens to this day is my all time favorite theatregoing experience to this date, I hope Rise can come close to matching it!

Everything I read about this movie tells me it will be an enjoyable, but wholly hollow, follow up to the deepest and daring Star Wars movie to date.

so basically a JJ Abrams movie. Meh, at least it will be enjoyable enough. I’m expecting a ROTJ/TFA type, not a Star Wars/Empire/TLJ type

Revising this after hearing reports from last night.

Now I'm basically holding my breath it won't be a complete disaster.

As someone who was lukewarm on The Last Jedi, I’m just hoping this answers some of the open questions left hanging; and closes out the trilogy, putting a nice period on the saga in a satisfying way.
Ya this is exactly what I want. TLJ really just tossed out some plot points that were well set up in TFA, it truly felt like a bridge film to the finale, lets hope the finale delivers.

I like TLJ, but having a civil conversation about it is rare.

Are you sure you actually want a civil conversation about THE LAST JEDI? Why would a person who didn't like it engage in good faith with you when you clearly think very, very little of their opinions?

I'm really not trying to put you on the spot, but this sort of stuff also contributes to TLJ's discourse being tiring and exhausting. There are numerous valid reasons to like and dislike THE LAST JEDI.

Yeah, I already expressed my disdain for that film and I’ll leave it at that. If people like it, that’s fine. But to generalize the Star Wars fan base as “toxic” aha. I’m hoping this movie is good, just for the sake of the franchise.

I've read quite a few "toxic" posts regarding TLJ, and the new trilogy in general. It may not be everyone, but there is a very vocal group that dislikes the films purely based on political leanings.

I haven't seen much of that stuff on here (thank god), I'm just saying it's out there and easy to find.

Just for closure on the internet fighting of Star Wars discussion, I’m almost ready for this trilogy to be over lol. I’ve personally enjoyed it for the most part although it’s not my favorite trilogy. I think it’s exhausted a lot of people because there have been so many different expectations over the years for these films and future films and these character and how they’ll bring them back, who’s Reys parents, blah blah

I just think we all need to move past these. They’re clearly divisive films, which is intriguing to me, but I am excited for people to be excited about Star Wars again. The Mandalorian seems like a fantastic start. Can’t wait for the Obi-Wan series which I think every fan is excited for. Then, who knows what the future holds.

I know I’m going to enjoy this final Star Wars chapter and celebrate it like heck and I just hope others do as well and not make everything into a fight.

Finish work today then early bed, up at 23:00 ready for the 00:05 showing, looking forward to see how this ends.
