Well in my personal opinion, there is no denying that after seeing The Rise Of Skywalker, and if its your opinion that it doesn't, thats fine. Just my opinion.

I'd be totally up for that story. Everyone has an interesting story in that scenario. I'd love to know more about Zorri. I'd love to have learned more about Phasma. I would've loved to learn more about the Knights of Ren. Hell, it would've been cool if Finn had a single love interest instead of three lmao.

The plot was also so very contrived in order to introduce his third love interest, Jannah. Also, why she became a love interest is confusing as he was still fawning over Rey in this movie and Rose was still around and their relationship was never addressed (although it's pretty obvious that was a one time kiss in TLJ and JJ wasn't gonna let it happen again)

One of the things that really annoyed me was how they sidelined Rose. The fanbois hated her character in TLJ so they pretty much just wrote her out of the story. If I was Kelly Marie Tran, I'd be p***** off.

How though? If J.J. wanted to do a full trilogy, the man could have. He was literally offered Episode 8 and turned it down. When you take the reins back over to an ongoing story, you have to commit to working with what exists. It's not on TLJ that J.J. felt the need to completely ignore and rewrite half of Episode 8 instead of simply working with what he was given.

Not to mention, there are waaaay more issues in this film that ruined it that have no relation to TLJ's existence at all.

There's just way too much going on. It needed to be paired down. Less, not more characters. There was just almost no room to breathe in this movie the plot is all over the place. Yup the movie definitely felt like parts of HIS Episode 8 and then finally we got to Episode 9 halfway though. And the movie was only 2 hours and 20 minutes.

It's such a crucial issue with this movie. You can't ignore the past when writing and he did it time and time again (and not just with TLJ oddly enough). Two prime examples:

- Despite Anakin's arc, we now see multiple characters just freely able to heal with no struggle or explanation at all

- Episode 8: Leia sends out a signal to all the systems asking for help... literally no one shows up.

Episode 9: Lando flies around to all the systems asking for help.... literally everyone shows up.

It's a blatant issue with continuity being thrown to the wind for the sake of plot convenience.

Idk I guess you're right its on JJ. Idk, I still don't know how to feel about any of this but in my mind theres only 6 Star Wars movies now. Just my thoughts, I think ep8 just doing NOTHING with Ep7, feeling like it closed out key plot points from Ep7, then had a lackluster death to the most famous film character ever, it f'd things up. JJ did not have much to work with. Now, I don think JJ should've retconned the entire film of episode 8, but it shows how off that film was compared to the rest of the trilogy especially after this last one. I think they're simply both to blame but more blame to Disney for not nailing down 1 director and 1 vision for the franchise. They all sucked in my opinion, but again, just my opinion. Doesn't need to be anyone else's. Its really not a well done trilogy and I just really wish it was.

There were also several signs of Finn being force sensitive in the past movies to the point where it was a pretty decently sized fan theory. I'd say the issue is more that the execution here is rushed more than anything else.

Oh, and the whole General Hux thing didn't just make him a bitch that got shot unceremoniously, but it also very weirdly changes how I feel about RotR now since Hux has an Animatronic standing right next to Kylo.

It's too convenient though, imo. But the whole script relies heavily on conveniences.

I think due to that, over time we will see the strident timeline hold be lifted and it will simply be Batuu that's a part of the canon. Hopefully SWGE will become just a theme park land where things from any of the movies can appear.

Ya Rise Of The Resistance will definitely be looked at a tad differently for a bit at least after this film. It also makes me question why there isn't more Rey in the ride directly, but oh well. One review of Rise of Skywalker kinda felt true, it felt like a theme park ride.
