How though? If J.J. wanted to do a full trilogy, the man could have. He was literally
offered Episode 8 and turned it down. When you take the reins back over to an ongoing story, you have to commit to working with what exists. It's not on TLJ that J.J. felt the need to completely ignore and rewrite half of Episode 8 instead of simply working with what he was given.
Not to mention, there are
waaaay more issues in this film that ruined it that have no relation to TLJ's existence at all.
