Give the film about a 8/10, but the film is definitely growing on me more and more as I watch it.

Nicholas Hoult is Lex. This might be the RDJ casting that has been long overdue for him, because it's incredibly hard to consider anyone else from any other adaptation. Film overall is pure Silver Age glory, and while I think the film actually needed to be 15 minutes longer; it is a fantastic introductionary blueprint for future DCU film and TV projects.

  • I adore how the film just hits you in the face with introducing you to the universe Gunn wants you to be invested in. The Exposition is fantastic, and it works amazingly in context (and I wonder if this will be how DCU Batman is introduced in Brave & The Bold
  • Having Jor-El and Lara speak the alien language is fantastic. Feels like Gunn saw what was being done with "My Adventures with Superman", and decided to roll it in (not sure how I feel on him making Jor-El antagonistic, but I think that will be explored)
  • Lex is perfection. This is the best adaptation we've seen of Lex on the big screen and it isn't even close. I love how blatantly xenophobic and genocidal is on Superman and those who he deems as lesser, feels like he took the political side of Lex and spun it further.
  • I love the dynamic of Lois and Clark, but I think there needed to be one more moment with them both.
  • There needed to be more of the "Boy Scout" Superman that we saw glimpses of. Him saving the squirrel was a fantastic touch but more like that should've been done.
  • They're clearly setting Jimmy to be the stupid and crazy Jimmy that we know from the comics, and all I can say is thank you Gunn for that. The world needs crazy antics from Jimmy Olsen.
  • The film needed to be 15 minutes longer, especially in comparison to how rushed the ending felt.
  • Kara's introduction being the ending of the film before Clark sees memories from his true parents is great. Makes it feel naturalistic that we don't need to jump onto anything other than Supergirl for when it releases next year.
  • Some of the CG is a bit wonky. Specifically the stuff in the pocket dimension with the river; and the scene between Superman & Ultraman in the chasm in-between Metropolis and the Pocket Dimension. Took me out of it in 3D for a bit.

Why are there two posts in a row not connecting that they clearly used “Ultraman” as a Red Herring and this is Bizarro lol

He’ll be back.

I really enjoyed it, loved the chemistry between Corenswet and Brosnahan and the fact that most of the film took place in daylight, hurrah not more gloomy dark Superman!

Its not going to break box office records or maybe even break even but its set a solid and positive foundation for the DCU going forwards.

Oh, Krypto was great too.
